I’m going to keep this one very simple.

THE DEADLINE TO REGISTER TO VOTE IS 22ND MAY.
www.gov.uk/register-to-vote

Postal votes start to go out on 23rd May.

Your challenge is to persuade someone to register to vote or to get someone who is considering not to, to get their arse to the polling station.

Go forth and harass. Especially women and the young.

That’s it. No frills OP.

Oooh i had a go at persuading someone yesterday

They felt that there was no point voting as their vote doesnt count

It probably doesn't due to tory stronghold but i did say that at least the margins would be smaller

Persuading dh at the moment...not sure its working

Justin Trudeau Won In Canada Through Strategic Voting - It Can Work Here In The UK

Posting this link again

Overcoming the ‘assumption’ of a foregone conclusion was key to changing the outcome of the 2015 Canadian general election. One person who made this happen was Hisham Abdel-Rahman, an IT manager from Calgary, Alberta. Hisham had never before been involved in political campaigning, but wanted to make a difference. He ran a grassroots campaign to get people across the country to vote strategically. He worked with many other groups whose focus was getting out first time voters.

By election day, the combination of giving people belief in the power of their vote and advice on how to vote added 2.7million voters to the election.

Stephen Harper, the sitting Prime Minister, didn’t lose that many votes. What brought progressive parties sweeping into power was new, primarily young voters who joined the electorate. The vote among 18-24 year-olds increased by 18.3% vs the 2011 election, with women in this age group up by 20%.

Brexit was won by getting people who don't normally vote to the polls.

Trudeau did for the same reason.

It works. There is precident.

There are active election strategies to demotivate certain types voters. Resisting that in itself a victory. It's not falling into the trap of having your behaviour manipulated.

Maybe it won't work this time as we are so short on time. But the stage can be set for next time and the shock of NOT getting the landslide in the percentage of the vote May wants will keep minds focused.

And just for the record (not that I watched QT - but a friend had already ranted on FB), the BBC (& therefore Dimbleby) are the only media that is still claiming that the SNP lost seats at the council elections last week Confused: they not only got 6 more seats (425 to 431 = +6 ) but they increased vote share. This supposed 7 seat decrease is apparently based on some notional doodling that one professor did on what the SNP might have got last time if the electorate and boundaries had been what they were this time Hmm

Thanks Red. Can I encourage someone 'not' to vote? My elderly neighbour has always voted conservative but hates the way the party is going - he was just old enough to fight in WW2, and keeps saying it isn't what he fought for.

He says he can't vote for another party but is very tempted to stay at home and not vote at all. I can see his point of view completely.

Maybe the fight back against (or the dilution of) a hard Brexit, might come from within? Infacts suggests some cabinet ministers who are still concerned about leaving the EU, and who may be worth voting for.

Not sure about Amber Rudd...
