And when is it reasonable to email to ask for payment? Dont think i am there yet but want to be 'on it' and organised in case no payment turns up!

if they haven't paid by the 4th day just open an unpaid case, and if no payment in 4 days close it and get your fees back. Then you can relist or second chance offer if necessary.

I had someone not pay once, and ebay were great and eventually gave me the money themselves! This is standard, you just need to jump through various hoops asking the person to pay, etc, then filling in a form for ebay saying they haven't.

I then relisted the item and sold it again :)

Think you can chase after a few days if no payment but probably need to wait a week or so before taking it further. They have rules on the site somewhere that set it all out.

Have you invoiced? Some buyers only seam to know how to pay on invoice. I invoice, then contact after two days, recontact after a further two days suggesting mutual withdrawal from sale if they don't wish to proceed.

If you go into your 'selling' list, scroll down to sold items, to the right of the sold item is a drop down list 'more actions' its under this as something like invoice buyer.

on sold list click "send payment details" you can add message then send invoice

on day 3 send invoice, with note saying please pay by thursday 6pm as i need to wrap to post friday morning

I sell as business so I don't rush to open cases

on day3/4 i send invoice

on day 6 email saying I am sure it is an oversight but it has been 6 days ince you won auction, please pay by (x normally another 48 hours) if a problem please get in touch, some are waiting to bid on other items for combined postage but never said... i can't mind read!

day 7/8 open case

I would say 50% pay within 24 hours another 35% within the 4 days allowed by ebay

most on receipt of email,

have opened 38 non payment cases about 15 then paid so 22 have non payment strikes ( out of about 1000 sales)

however as private seller I may just send invoice day 3/4 and open case day 5/6

you always need to send invoice if combining postage for more than 1 item
