Hi I was thinking of selling a connecta carrier, sheepskin, amby hammock and possible my bugaboo frog on here but the sales boards are empty! Was prepared to pay the £10 fee but am guessing nobody will look on here. Is ebay the way forward? Sold a double mountain buggy on here for coc without any hassle so dissapointed it's no longer an option. Bit reluctant to go for paypal and couriers etc. Thanks for any advice :)

well you could do collection only but you must only take cash for that, never paypal anyway.

Obviously this does limit you to local buyers though. If you do courier then it doesn't have to cost the earth as long as you can get cheap, decent packaging. Just make sure you organise a courier yourself, don't let the buyer organise it as you won't have the tracking info yourself which you may need.

Thanks thats very interesting thanks, I thought collection in person and paypal would have been the safest?

Why don't you try Gumtree first? Then eBay.....

no paypal is never safest for collection items - buyer can claim not received and get a full refund after they have collected the item, and seller doesn't have proof of delivery so lose their item and their money.

Oh I see, that makes sense fergoose - awful if stuff like that happens. Thanks Purplefrog - have you ever used Gumtree - I guess it is luck if it works out but might be worth a try first. thanks both.

Yes - I have sold a number of things on Gumtree - in fact I just sold dd's last bike there yesterday! You post a description and you can add a number of photos like eBay, but it is free to list and there are no final value fees to pay. Usually you post something with a fixed price, but often buyers try to haggle. In theory only local buyers will be looking at your local Gumtree site.

I usually only list large bulky items on Gumtree. It is worth a go - and you can use the same photos and description on eBay later if it doesn't sell!

Oh, and with Gumtree you can give a phone number for contact like any other classified advert, or just do all correspondence with prospective buyers through Gumtree's messaging system which doesn't reveal your actual e-mail address to the other party. So, you only have to give personal details to someone who is actually coming to buy something.

Gumtree is good for bulky items and kids stuff, but the site is often very slow.

I want to sell an iCandy Peach and assumed the mumsnet board would be a good bet, but you're right, it seems very neglected! Thanks for the gumtree tip off!

If you sell your frog on fleabay break it down into components. You'll get far more money tht way.

Sorry to revive this but hermionesstranger interested in frog idea I have an extra unused sand carrycot and an extra seat minus a strap also unused but would prob be useful for parts, the chasis is in v g c but the front wheels need replacing. I was planning to get new front wheels and sell it highlighting good condition and unused carrycot fabrics - guess I should work out what I am likely to get for sep components but don't think I could sell the faulty seat.

Isn't the lack of anonymity a problem?

pookey - depends, what are you selling?!
Might be an issue if you don't want family to know you're selling stuff they gave you, but otherwise you're giving someone your name and address so they can collect something, that's all.

I just sold a big item on Twitter as someone got "Does anyone have a xxx" retweeted by other parents and I replied "yes, actually" - so could try that.

he he! Just being paranoid, but guess its not much diff to selling anywhere else. Should prob just get on and advertise somewhere!
