What time do Tesco release delivery slots?

InOtterNews · 21/04/2020 13:21

Tesco - a supermarket I have never shopped at - have emailed me to say that I get priority access to delivery slots. There aren't any left so I would like to know what time of day I should be checking the website?

(Waitrose and Sainsbury's where I do shop are yet to acknowledge my existence)

Apparently it's midnight but I've been on at midnight and there's none, but have managed to randomly check at other times and there's loads! So, in short I don't know what their system is but it's wise to just keep checking.

I’ve never had a problem getting one at midnight, that’s when they all come on for me, you have to get on before and queue though

OK I'll have to keep checking. Chemo means that I rarely make it past 9pm at the moment

Yes, we have been added to their list of vulnerable people as we are shielding, but there are no slots in the next 3 weeks, even for the vulnerable, so it doesn't help very much!

I got on to the Tesco website this morning at 8.15, got a delivery slot straight away, no queue. They had loads in the 1 hour slot for different days. None for 4 hour slots.

Never managed to get one in the morning before, usually have to queue at midnight.
It may depend on where abouts in the country you are.

I feel for you op. My dad has two different cancers and their treatments. He also had sepsis recently which led to multiply organ failure. He is really struggling to get a slot. Really annoys me perfectly healthy people are staying up until midnight and getting all the slots they dont need. People having cancer treatments dont generally have the amount of energy to do that.

I ordered the vegetarian Morrisons box for him last night on the recommendation of a lovely mumsnetter. With the idea that he could order a meat pack from his local butcher too. He also gets a box of basics from the council. The police delivered this week’s!

Have you phoned your local council?
And also try your local mosque.

Sorry to hear of your circumstances OP Flowers
I’ve gotten a slot at 23:15 before and I’ve also gotten pick of the slots at 00:25 so it really can be trial and error. Make sure to keep refreshing the website as well every few minutes to make sure that you’re straight in there when they’re released.

I just logged in and there were slots for the vulnerable for 7th May. They randomly appeared over lunchtime. I presume it will vary by area, but it certainly wasn't at midnight.

FWIW For pick ups with Sainsbury's we discovered they release the next few days' pick up slots randomly during the day. This has been a gradual change.

We also found that if we switched between stores it seemed to refresh in a better way.

Does it have to be Tesco? Iceland had loads of slots at lunchtime, MIL was spoilt for choice re what time slot to get. They put their slots up daily.

It's midnight - I set my alarm to wake me up at 11:30pm go into the app and load my basket, it then puts you in a queue at 11:50pm and some time after 12 you'll get put back through if you're lucky you'll get a slot - if you go into the book a slot section they're is a priority button, if no slots there I check the standard slots. If no slots left go back on at 2am and any slots not checked out become available.
I'm on tescos list and even been classed as vulnerable and been a long term customer hasn't guaranteed me a slot some weeks.

Weirdly a whole week of slots appeared to me today. Not vulnerable or on any list, but a long-standing delivery pass customer. I booked one and now there aren't any visible again, but literally the whole week had every slot available (week of the 11th May). I'm guessing once you book, you can't see anything for that calendar week as I can still see there are slots on the following Monday, and my friend with no slot booked but a delivery pass too could are a whole week of slots too.

Oh and this was just at lunchtime.

I think either it’s totally random or it varies by area/store.

One time I got a slot by getting online at midnight.

Last night I woke at around 3am and had a random look on the app and they’d released a whole weeks worth! Needless to say I booked one!
There were still some available this morning too, I let a friend know and she got one.

Granted, they are WEEKS away, but since none of know if/when we could get sick/housebound I’m glad to have it.

OP on the Tesco delivery page on their website I think they had a number to call if you’re vulnerable. Might be worth a try?

In fact I just checked and there are slots tomorrow for me for my dad and my gran, who are in a different area. I wonder if they've changed something as last week there was literally nothing at any time of day, and now I can have my pick!

8am has worked for me twice since the lockdown started.

'Yes, we've introduced a limit of one order a week, which means you may be unable to see future delivery slots if you've recently made an order.'

Ah, that explains why all the slots disappeared when I booked one. Makes sense!

@inotternews, sorry you are having a hard time, made worse with this lockdown
I am also on the list for Tesco, and my experience has been that sometimes when the system is busy there are no slots, but a few hours later, they reappear.
So keep looking, is my advice. I have found them amazing actually, no problems with stock or delivery times. Feel bad I have not used them before,

Thanks all. I will keep trying at random times when I can.

I think they have started prioritising delivery saver customers - I have been going on at midnight to get a slot but this morning I could see the whole week of 11th May and there were loads, I told a few friends and they couldn’t see anything but they don’t have delivery saver. Once I had booked though I couldn’t see any more so it is limited to one per week.

Morrison’s have been the easiest to book around here and they get released at 7am ish

For weeks I didn’t see any Sainsbury’s click and collect slots now there’s lots throughout the day, sometimes all day, don’t think anybody wants them 😳

Asda usually release their slots around 10pm and always plenty to choose from

Tesco very hit and miss. I got in at 12.07am yesterday and there wasn’t any slots available and I thought I was early!

AmelieTaylor · 21/04/2020 18:40

@InOtterNews. I hope you can get one soon

I would have thought allocating you a slot would have been a good start! You could have always refused it, if you had a reason it didn't suit you, but at least it would have been one option!!!

Take care 🌷

They seem to be all 1 hour slots, have not seen a single flexy slot. Regarding times... I've found it to be really random when I find tesco slots, it's usually early morning but has also been very late evening :/
