Hi can does anyone have a good idea on how i can stop ds2 wanting my hair to hold to go to sleep and when he wakes up.

Not only does t mean that i have to be with him most of the night, but its really annoying, and my hair falls out in bug clumps!!

Any suggestions greatfully recieved.

Thanks

No suggestions, but I have the same problem. We have tried getting ds a doll with long hair but that didn't work. It's gotten a bit better recently, in that he'll let dh put him to bed (dh says he strokes his eyebrows) but i still get woken up during the night by him tugging on my hair or feeling around for it.

Apparently, someone told me, it is possible to get dolls with real hair!!! errgh personally, but my ds1 is the same, I reduced it by saying you can play with my hair while I'm reading you a story, or for 5 mins whatever. He's 5 now and still does it sometimes, in the end I quite enjoy it now and try to think about when he's older and how I will look back on this time as special....

Hi, I had this problem too. I tried tying a muslin square around my head kind of headscarf style, then letting Ds hold that. He seemed to be happy enough as I was still near him, and then when he was nearly asleep I could untie the muslin and leave him holding that while I left the room.

It wasn't totally foolproof and he sometimes managed to yank stray hairs at the sides instead, but I did find it helped a bit.

Hmmm, maybe I should try that cakeaddict. How old is your ds?

My ds2 is exactly the smae, twiddles and twiddles my hair although he doesnt need it to fall asleep-just the rest of the time!
Its got to the point where he screems if he sees me go to put it in a pony tail or somethingg, he runs off with my hair bobs and even doesnt like the little girl i mind to have her hair tied up!

He is almost 13months - I started with the muslin thing prob around 9mths-ish. I'm now trying to wean him off needing me at all to go to sleep as his latest is trying to hold my hand instead... but at least the headscarf idea stopped me going bald in the meantime!

Hi, Wish i had tried that moths ago!
He is 2 and half now so very wise!

I have cut long underlayers of my hair and sown them to a soft toy, sort of worked for a bit but then he went off that.
He has never been a good sleeper but im fed up with it now. If he was not so relyant on my hai it would be easy to sort out i think.

Far short of having my hair shaved off i dont know what else to do

thank god for mumsnet - i though my DS was the only one! he is totally obsessed with my hair and when tired or feeling clingy, he just holds fists of it like a comfort blanket. I have resorted to having it tied up (v tightly) on bad days but he just pushes his fingers in at the roots and grabs a handfull
