What age did you put your baby upstairs to sleep?

... DD is still in her moses basket in the lounge with us until we head off to bed ourselves. What age did you start putting your baby to bed upstairs whilst you remain downstairs until bedtime? I can't remember what I did with DS.

Ds1 was fairly young, but was very settled - maybe 2 mths?

Ds2 was about 6 mths!

DD is settled in that she doesn't cry but it rubbish at going into a deep sleep! But I don't know if I'm ready to send her upstairs yet - deliberating whether or not she'll benefit from the quieter environment though. She's nearly two months herself. Oh what to do, what to do.

Both from a few weeks and in their own room at 4 months. Both ebf so it was a bit of a nuisance but we reached a point where we were constantly waking each other up. We all slept better after that!

3 days! Checked regularly and had a monitor.

Try it for a couple of evenings, if it doesn't feel right to you - leave it for a week or so or until you feel more ready & try again Smile.

Good Luck.

DD is ebf and I sometimes think she can smell dinner lurking close by! What time generally did you put them upstairs?

Can't remember with DS1 but DS2 was 4 months (I think DS1 may have been a bit later). DS2 used to just fall asleep so easily downstairs (usually on the play gym) with us that it seemed pointless him being downstairs with us so I just started giving him a feed and then putting him in the crib in our bedroom and he would just fall asleep there - he has always been fantastic at just falling asleep by himself and I thank my lucky stars every night Smile

Pretty much from birth with all of them!

Can't remember exactly ... about 3 or 4 months?

Pretty much from the beginning. Until recently (he's 11 weeks) I've gone to bed at the same time as him though. For the past week or so he's been upstairs, we've had the monitor on and DP and I have been downstairs.

From the 2nd day we brought them home, so they would have been 6 days.

Well from birth/when we came out of hosp, you know. Pretty much straight away.

3 months ish, maybe 4. I spent weeks up in the bedroom with him so it was more a case of when did I feel happy to go downstairs and leave him. I think it happened naturally at the point where I realised he would stay asleep if he wasn't pinned to my chest and am sure it was in the day not the night.

Come to think of it, I think it's really important. Bath, feed, dark room. Helps to make a bedtime that lasts for years and years.

About 1 month....it reallydid make a dfference...you relax a bit more I think...yes...you pop up a lot to check on them but I do think it's better for them to be in a dark room with no TV etc in the background.

DS1 also lso from birth. I went downstairs for every feed after the c-section.

DS2, however, was in the basket next to us and in hindsight we would have been better off putting DS2 in with DS1 from birth as well.

I wasn't a fan of sleeping in the same room - DS2 woke up every time we moved.
