Which spelling do you like?
Rebecca is more common whereas Rebekah is the Hebrew biblical way

Rebecca personally.

The only rebekah I know has eastern european parents.

Unless there's a herritage link, I'd always go for the common one. But that's just personal preference.

Rebekah if you're religious, Rebecca if you're not

Rebecca. I want to like Rebekah but for some reason it looks spiky.

As someone with a name that can be spelled multiple ways I vote Rebecca or they'll spend their life spelling it for people

I prefer Rebekah, but I think most people would assume the Rebecca spelling, so that might make it a better choice.

(I have an ordinary name with an unusual spelling, and it's a PITA.)

I'm the 'common' version - still have to spell it every time.

I prefer my spiky spelling but it is a pain to always have to spell out my name.

My niece is a kah but that's because her parents are religious. I'd go for the common spelling

Rebecca...can't stand when people unnecessarily put k's in names, just looks common.

Rebecca, just because that's how everyone will assume it's spelt.

Unless the person spelling it is deeply religious, in which case they might assume Rebekah.

My middle name is Rebecca and I always wished it was spelt Rebekah!! 😢

There's nothing 'unnecessary' about it, in this case - it's the original biblical spelling.

Even if you're too ignorant to know the original spelling the OP explains Rebekah is the biblical version

Rebekah - I wouldn't associate it with more religious families. I know three of all sorts of backgrounds. I prefer Katherine or Kathryn over Catherine too. I think I prefer the Ks for some reason.

Report
PetalMettle · 19/03/2017 06:18

I prefer Kathryn with a k too - the c is too soft to lead somehow

Rebecca.

Unless you're particularly religious, I'd go with the more common spelling. My own name has a couple of ways to spell it - mine being the least common- and I spend my left correcting people. It's a small but persistent irritation.

I'm a Rebecca and I've always thought Rebekah was cooler there were 5 Rebecca's in my class however it was the 1980s and it was very popular I don't think there'd be so many in a class these days

Rebekah. Id go for the original spelling. I wouldnt let having to spell it out bother you at all. Both verions now appear to be very common and either would probably need to spell it Occasionally.
