I love...
-Delilah (nn Lilah)
-Betsy (given name Elizabeth)
-Emmeline (nn Emmy)

DH dislikes all except Emmeline, which he thinks is only ok. But he has no suggestions of his own.

You can be harsh wink

Pearl is lovely. Not keen on the others.

Cosmicglitterpug Sat 11-Mar-17 22:41:54

Well I've used two names off your list... I like them all. I think a celeb has just had a Valentine/Valentina for what that's worth. If he's not coming up with a suggestion you choose!
Delilah is a brilliant name. That or Elizabeth because it's so versatile, and Betsy is cute.

Valentine is a boys name.

Not keen on Betsy. Much prefer Betty, somehow that one letter makes all the difference!

Quite like all the others.

Does he literally have no suggestions of his own? That makes him sound a bit odd.

SeveredPixieBits Sat 11-Mar-17 22:44:11

I like all of them! Great list.

DramaAlpaca Sat 11-Mar-17 22:48:03

Emmeline is the only one I like.

Suzytwoshoes Sat 11-Mar-17 22:48:06

That's my list!
Some suggestions :

Love Emmeline

Sorry I dislike them all

Gemmy89 Sat 11-Mar-17 22:50:49

He has absolutely no suggestions! it's driving me mad. He just says no to names and brings none to the discussion. Arg!

If I could have a crowd of daughters I'd use them all, I love them so much.

His least favourite is Delilah because of the Tom Jones song. I said none of her friends will know it. It won't be part of their pop culture like it is ours.

Interesting that a celeb has just had a Valentine / a. That actually crosses it off the list for me!

Gemmy89 Sat 11-Mar-17 22:52:13

susy - great suggestions! Bess and Agnes are lovely

Gemmy89 Sat 11-Mar-17 22:54:09

cosmic - would you say which two you used? Or would you rather not? (Totally understand if you'd rather not reveal too much!)

Gemmy89 Sat 11-Mar-17 22:56:24

Though having said he has no suggestions, he did say Mary after his Granny. But not because he likes the name, just because it would mean something.

I don't mind Mary, but don't love it. I said middle name and he agreed.

Winterflower84 Sat 11-Mar-17 22:56:59

If Valentine, then it should be Valentina for a girl.

ceeveebee Sat 11-Mar-17 22:58:21

I like Emmeline and Pearl

Similar names could be Evangeline, Cecily, Delia, Lily?

ChippieBeanAndHorro Sat 11-Mar-17 22:58:32

-Delilah (nn Lilah): nice
-Pearl: That's imo a nn.
-Betsy (given name Elizabeth): very nice
-Valentine: lovely, I do prefer Valentina
-Emmeline (nn Emmy): Emmily, Amelie, Amelia... They're all so very popular.

What about Victoria nn Kiki/Tori?

CocoLoco87 Sat 11-Mar-17 23:01:37

Valentina was on my list for a girl! I also really like Emmeline but would always shorten it to Emmy.
Pearl seems a bit old barmaid in leopard print for some reason lol.

Sophronia Sat 11-Mar-17 23:03:22

Love Emmeline, and Delilah and Pearl are quite nice.

safm Sat 11-Mar-17 23:04:19

My baby is Mabel Emmeline as it was a compromise on the name Emily. I have found that people do not pronounce it the way I want it they say Emma-Lin whereas it should be as it is spelt rhyming with Caroline iyswim

From you list I like Betsy or Emmeline smile

celtiethree Sat 11-Mar-17 23:04:54

Don't like any I'm with your DH

Gemmy89 Sat 11-Mar-17 23:05:09

Ooh Cecily...

If we went with Betsy... Her surname will begin with a "B" and I do love an alliterative name. Betsy B... too cutesy?

ChippieBeanAndHorro Sat 11-Mar-17 23:09:05

I don't think BB is bad. It makes me think of Bibi & Tina, Bibi is a teenage witch ;)

EyeStye Sat 11-Mar-17 23:09:46

I love Emmeline and Emmie and DD3 so nearly had that name
I was put off eventually by the Emma-Lin vs rhyme with Caroline issue safm mentions as I didn't want it to be mispronounced all the time

Notso Sat 11-Mar-17 23:15:23

Delilah, the song would put me off. I can hear the why, why, why jokes when you announce the name. I love Lilah but that's a song issue too, my friend has a Lyla who gets "hey" constantly.
Pearl, OK.
Betsy/Elizabeth, Elizabeth is fine. Not keen on Betsy, I like Bet though.
Valentine, awful. I can't imagine introducing myself with that name.
Emmeline. LOVE IT, I prefer Em or Millie as a nn
