Hi all,

These are the names we have narrowed our list down to!
DH is Irish and grew up in Ireland. I'm English and we live in England.
Our top name for ages was Rex but I quite like a name I can shorten and you can't shorten Rex. I also stupidly mentioned it to parents and was met with 'do many humans get called that?' Which put me off slightly.
Corey and Seamus are recent additions to the list. Dh loves Seamus for its Irish roots and I have to admit Its really grown on me. Shay or Seami are cute nn's.
We both love Corey but have a feeling it would have mixed reactions. I've heard it can be slang for penis but i've grown up in or near London and never heard it so wonder if people think this is an issue?
Please be kind as it has taken months for us to come up with any kind of list!

I see you've learnt the hard way. You should keep all names close to your chest and only reveal once they're finalised! Stops meddling relatives from throwing in their tuppence. Grin

I love Rex and Seamus, not too keen on Corey, but probably because we pronounce it Co-Ray in Scotland. It would sound lovely with your DH's Irish accent!

All nice but I'd put them in this preference order:

  1. Seamus
  2. Rex
  3. Corey

I think Seamus is lovely especially with your close connection to Ireland, and as you say 'Shay' is super cute and cool as a nn. Definitely top pick for me.

I know a Se with an accent on the 'e'. Can't do it on tablet! Pronounced Shay. I like Seamus then Rex. Not keen on Corey.

I really dislike both Corey and Rex, sorry.

Seamus is a great name, and you're right about the lovely nn potential (Shay, Shamie etc).

Dont like the others at all, I'm afraid. Rx is a dog's name and Corey is a bit 1980s American.

Corey is awful. Either of the other too are fine. Seamus is probably the safer bet.

Seamus gets my vote.

Much nicer nicknames and with the irish origins in your family it fits better.

(Rex, sorry, but to me it does have the connotations of being a classic dog name.)

Corey really isnt popular. Coconutty - where do you live out of interest?

Another vote for Seamus. It's not a name I'm mad keen on, but I really love Shay.

Rex is my favourite.

Beware though, my GF was called Rex because you can't shorten it, but was known as Reggie!
