Ok, following on from my boys name thread I'm now asking you lovely people for some feedback on options for girls names for DC 4. I'm not easily offended so please don't hold back! Alternative suggestions very welcome and sibling names are Arthur, Florence and Cecily....

Shortlist as follows:
Cordelia
Agatha
Primrose
Margot
Sylvia nn sylvie

The only name I like on your list is Sylvia nn Sylvie.

I don't like Cordelia at all, it sounds too posh/pretentious to me.

I smell old lady already.
I suppose Primrose is the only one I truly don't like. Prim & proper, iyswim. Margot is my fave at a push.

I really like cordelia, it is incredibly posh though!

I love Cordelia (mainly because I love Buffy).

I'm a buffy fan so love Cordelia.

I'm worried that it's too posh! I'm not too keen on the potential shortening to Delia either but it's DH preferred choice for a girl so feel like I have to give it some thought.

Love Agatha and Primrose

Have you considered Clementine?

Don't like Cordelia at all, sorry. It's a bit pretentious sounding to me.
I love Sylvia and Margot! Sylvia is a bit of a mouthful with Cecily though in my opinion. Arthur, Florence, Cecily and Margot is perfect!

I really like cordelia. I have known 3. One shortened hers to Cory in teens the other leah. The 3rd never shortened hers and was always cordelia.

I always love these threads.

My nn is from Anne of Green Gables, not Buffy though.

I think Cordelia or Margot sound better with sibling names.

I love Primrose, Margot and Sylvia. I recently had dd2 and Sylvia was on my short list. Dd1's middle name is Margot.

I think all three of those go with the sibling names. Cordelia is very pretty but I don't love it as much as those three.

Love all your choices! Cordelia is lovely and would have been DS2's name had he been DD1. Feel sad k can't use it!!

Cordelia is beautiful.
Sylvie is gorgeous.
The others are cool and clunky.

I know two Cordelias, both in their 20s. Both shortened to Cords. So I suppose it depends on whether you want to risk a nn which is the same as beige trousers favoured by middle aged men.

I love Cordelia; prefer Ophelia marginally. Have you thought about Daphne? Genevieve?

I love Sylvie. Not keen on the others. ESpecially Agatha.

I love Cordelia & Margot. The others not so much. Margot gets my vote but only by a fraction!

Agatha too close to Arthur
Sylvie too close to Cecily
Margot and Cordelia best with sibset with no confusion when calling for them.
Primrose doesn't fit with your other names I think.

I have a Cordelia, so I like it!
Aurelia is similar and means golden, which put me off as my elder two are pale skinned with dark hair.

Love Sylvie.
Love Margot,
Don't like Primrose but love Rose Rosa and Rosie.
Don't like Cordelia but love Delia and Cora as names in their own right.
Sorry can't stand Agatha.
Other suggestions.
Astrid
Meredith
Alice
Christina
Your existing children have gorgeous names. BTW,

I would rank them:

  1. Margot
  2. Sylvia nn sylvie
  3. Cordelia
  4. Agatha

I don't like Primrose at all, sorry.

I do like Cordelia but it doesn't seem to fit with Cecily very well, but then again that's not really a problem in their adult life, it might mean people shorten her name to Delia very quickly.
