AIBU?

to think that the 'curly girl' method doesn't actually work??

Have been doing it for three weeks and my hair just looks 'lank'

Ok so my hair is more wavy than curly but still, I thought it was supposed to work???

But instead of tighter 'curls' they're dropping out!

I've got conditioners with no nasties in, I use Boots curl cream and nothing else!

So AIBU?????

Are you doing the plopping thing too?
I gave up on co-washing as it made my hair too greasy.
I wash with OS shampoo and condition.
Plop for about 10 mins then put curl creme in. It is a bit hit and miss though

the website clearly says that wavy hair might need a 'low-poo' rather than 'no-poo' regime.

i am wavy to curly and i shampoo about once a week... if you think about it the system is for people with hair from our texture right through to full afro texture.. i think it's clear that ours needs more cleansing and a bit less moisturising than afro hair but less cleansing and more moisturising than straight hair.

i didn't like it - also went lank and bleugh

i have shortish wavyish (think meg ryan in her heyday . i wash with shampoo once a week/every 6 days or so and then "plop" with conditioner after towel drying.
it always looks shiteola immediately after washing but then every morning after that i stick my head under the shower, give it a good old rub with a towel, scrunch with my hands (NO PRODUCT!!!) and is fine til next hairwash day

you put product on your hands, bend over so your 'do is upsidedown and kinda let your hair pile into your hands while you squish the product in.

either that or i've got it horribly, horribly wrong

Glad to see I'm not the only one it didn't work for, although disappointed..

Tried 'plopping' but just made it more frizzy.

Have bought a baby shampoo from Boots with no nasties in and was only £2.99 doesn't lather very well but going to see how it goes..

MayorNaze - I think you may be doing the 'plopping' wrong??? Or of course it could be me!!

I thought plopping was when you put your head upside down after co washing and let it 'fall' into a microfibre type towel and kind of leave it like that for a while...

Don't take my word for it though, could be completely wrong!!

Hopefully someone will come along to confirm

yeah, I thought plopping involved a towel, but I spose it performs a kind of gentle scrunching action. My hair is too short to plop so hands are the only way...

Plopping is just gently scrunching up the curls from the bottom. I've been doing my hair like that for years. Curly Girl obviously copied me!

I've tried Boots curl creme pink, and for about a week it was great, then just started to make my hair sticky and lank. I think it might build up on the hair. Shame as it's great value.

BigHairyLeggedSpider, you're freaking me out

I'll have to scream and runaway from any threads you're on. Is that the intended effect?

Boots curl cream is horrid, it made my hair 'sticky'. I've tried not using shampoo, but my hair looked shite. The bottom bits of my hair were all lovely and curly but further up it was all fluffy IYSWIM. I use loreal elvive shampoo/conditioner and I just leave the conditioner in. At the moment it's my favoured method - this time next week it will be something else no doubt!

To give context I have hair like an irish dancers wig, lucky me

Well I've succumbed to the sucker's method - expensive shampoo and conditioner. I bought the Bumble and Bumble stuff from Space NK, shockingly expensive at £15 a bottle but I have to say my hair looks lovely. You only need to use a tiny bit of both and my curls do look good.

In my defence I offset this hideous expense by using Superdrug curl creme which also works a treat and only cost 99p.
