I will take a moment to remember him as much because of what he meant to our longest serving Monarch. Truthfully it's also a moment for me to continue to remember and reflect upon people I have lost in the last few years. I'm not particularly a strident royalist but I think moments of collective mindfulness like this can only help not hurt.

Going about my day, probably be out on a nice long walk around then.

Sad for his family but he didn't mean anything to me.

I will, if I can. I have a toddler so a minute of silence can be hard to come by in our house unless she's asleep!

No. It's sad when someone dies and I'm sure a very sad time for the family but I don't personally feel more affected than by the many many other deaths that have happened this year.

No.
But I always thought PP was one of the "Good Guys" and as a country we did well by him, (and vice versa) !
The Queen will miss him, but he had a good, long and healthy life.

No. Why today, out of interest?

No. If I'm out and about when these things happen I will 'conform', however it's not something I would practice in my own home as it means nothing in that situation.

I plan to watch the funeral, and I have watched a few tribute shows and learned a lot about The Duke, so I did my thinking then, I don't need a specific minute.

Oh I didn't read PPs message and see it was about Prince Philip, I assumed you meant something to do with Covid.

Still no.

No, didn’t even know there was a silence planned - I’ll be in the pub

Report
ShirleyPhallus · 17/04/2021 09:28

No I’m not. I’d rather hold any private thought to myself at a time of my choosing.

As a separate but slightly related note, I am a bit bored of all the minutes silence / clapping / etc. I know it’s my choice to take part of it or not but there is a lot of it going on

nope i will be watching a film. I avoid all news/tv at weekends, sick of being constantly stressed with the pandemic.

This. I will save my minute of silence for remembering all those who have died unnecessarily during covid - be that due to the virus itself or suicide or missed treatment.

The pub will hold a minutes silence.

Is the clapping still going on?! I thought that had stopped, seems like the NHS didn't like it anyway apart from perhaps the first.

I am going to do the minute silence as I'll be with an elderly relative. It will be a miracle if she doesn't forget half way through and starts talking though.

I assume if you watch the funeral you would observe the silence as it is at the beginning of the funeral

Not at all. Even if it were the Queen, the Royal Family mean nothing to me

Obviously it's sad to loose a family member but beyond that I give them no thought

Report
ghostyslovesheets · 17/04/2021 09:36

no I'll be in a riding lesson

Report
OolieMacdoolie · 17/04/2021 09:36

Probably not. No strong objections, but I don’t care enough to make the effort to remember to do so.
