... That have dads that are no longer with us. Also, to all of you that have a difficult relationship with your dads.

My dad was an amazing man. He died 10 years ago. 50 is no age - I'm raising a glass in his name today!

Wishing everyone a lovely Fathers Day. ❤️

I'll take that hand OP. Ten years since my dad died and I still miss him like mad. I think about him every day.

@LoseLooseLucy Oh, I'm so sorry. Flowers I would love to say that time is a healer, but in my opinion the rawness never really goes away; we just learn how to live with the grief day to day. There are some days, though, that it feels impossible to live with. 10 years on, I still feel like that occasionally. My dad was taken in a horrible way, and was the light of my life. 🕯️

My Dad died 12 years ago. My children's dad died the following year (kids were 4 and 6). When they were little I told the school that they would probably like to make father's day cards and to not feel awkward about it. Now we don't do anything (we have a little thing we do on his birthday).
My biggest regret about both their passing is that my children didn't have a chance to know them - they were both wonderful, kind, generous men.

Lost my Dad 7 years ago. Lost my DSM last year. Mum died when I was a child. So this years ‘special days’ are firsts with all 3 wonderful parents all gone.

Today feels weirdly worse now I’m ‘orphaned’ as it were. I’m ok but it’s a sad day that I’m trying not to focus on aside from making a nice tea for DH.

I'm so sorry to hear that Coffee. Must make it even harder to bear, my dad had cancer for 2 years before it so it wasn't so much of a shock, still felt the loss on a seismic scale though Sad

@Pipandmum That is so desperately sad. I'm sure your children know them through your lovely stories about them! Flowers

Flowers for you all. My thoughts are with you.

I lost my dad three years ago on 15th June. He was 57. His birthday is 23rd June and Fathers Day has fallen almost bang on top of these two dates ever since.

I'm avoiding Facebook like the plague today!

@EatDessertFirst Gosh, all three of those dates must be so difficult, in such quick succession especially.

Flowers for all.
30 years since my dad died.
I normally work Father's Day (hospitality) so keep busy and can't go out with in laws who like to make a big deal which is fair enough. Furloughed this year and it's really hard. I've been for coffee with a friend but now I'm home I'm going to go clean the bathroom or something and distract myself.
Dh is completely understanding and Ds and I will make a nice tea (he had breakfast in bed and presents this morning).
I just feel flat though.
It's just so bloody unfair.

I don't know about all of you, but the most painful part for me comes when I get some news, momentarily forget, pick up the phone to call him.... And then realise.

Me too, I went on FB first thing and did the obligatory likes and wished people a good father's day so as not to appear to be a kill joy and then logged out for the day.
Obviously there is nothing wrong with people not doing that.
