AIBU?

AIBU to be pissed off over these replies?

We are currently tying down numbers for the Christmas celebration.

Various emails were sent out to all and then, for those that didn’t reply we sent out a final communication to individuals just asking “Are you planning on attending?”

I sent half and so did DH. We have full view of each other’s in box for ease.

She sent a response “I’d like to attend the meal but as I’m off sick (she has surgery plannned with a rest period after) I didnt think I could attend”

DH replied “you will be off sick, doesn’t mean you can’t socialise”

Her response was “thank you x you can keep me company on the table”

It’s a partner dinner and dance so I found this quite a strange response but left it.

DH responded “great” she came back with “you are the best boss and person Ihave ever met xx”

He sent “don’t be daft” to which she responded “you love it”

I’m just sitting here thinking wtf! We have been married for years, grown teens, no issues etc is she flirting with him?

This doesn’t sound sexually flirty iyswim. It’s more ‘you love being told you are a great boss’. Considering she thought she was taking the piss attending and was encouraged to go she was being overly greatful/friendly.

@CheekyFuckersDontGetPastMe

Hmmm, not sure about this. Could well be innocent, but keep an eye on it.

My heart tells me it's nothing (as they are not hiding anything,) but some men love attention from other women, (especially if it keeps wifey on her toes, and grateful he is with her,) and their head can easily be turned.

Hope it doesn't turn into anything.

The xx piss me off but I’m a professional so maybe I’m seeing too much in to them

It’s so over the top though isn’t it, I agree she sounds needy/try too hard

She sounds like she's flirting and he's engaging, so he's as bad. When she said about keeping her company he shouldn't have replied at all, let alone say 'great'.

Theres so much thats weird about this.

A) the tone of your follow up email.
B) the forcing someone into socialising.
C) the womans responce to your DH.

Since you only asked about C - yes, I think she is, but its really cringe

Flirting.

@ThatssomebadhatHarry but she didn't just say 'you are the best boss' she said 'you are the best boss and person I have ever met.'

That goes beyond flirting- it's heavy!

At least it sounds like your DH isn't taking her up on it, OP.

I don't think your husband needed to reply the second time.

She sounds like she may have had a vino or two?

interested he isn’t but I don’t know how to approach it, do I tell her to back off, encourage him to do it?

His view is, him trying to engage our people, inclusion etc it’s all there to see

Who send the above to their boss knowing they are married with DC? I just don’t get it.

Yes she is flirting. He sounded a bit more neutral but didnt shut her down. Plenty of people hit on married people.

RLOU30 · 20/10/2019 21:13

why would you tell her to back off ? DH should take charge of.the situation if it goes any further. What does he think of her replies? did he not tell you before he replied I mean it is a bit heavy. The "you love it" almost implies that she knows him well. Can't imagine being that cheeky.

Why did he respond with "great" in the first place?

I would assume she has been on the wine
