AIBU?

To consider going to a festival while 23.5 weeks with twins?

Hello everyone.

I hope there are some twin mummies here who can help me out. You see, a band I love is coming to Denmark in June and I desperately want to go to the concert.

Problem is I'll be 23.5 weeks pregnant (with twins) and I have an anxiety disorder and generally uncomfortable with crowds.

I'm not sure how mobile I'll be at this time? Do any twin mums here remember how badly they were affected by the pregnancy at this time?

My DP doesn't think it's a good idea for reasons above and I can see her point, but again, I really want to see this band live and figured it will only be a few hours anyway as we are not going to stay for all 3 days.

AIBU? Blush

I got married at 23.5 weeks
I had to pee a lot
Was tired but like that before so you might be different

Did you feel like it took away some of the joy of the wedding?

It would depend on the set up of the festival for me. Stuck in the middle of huge crowds of drunk people on uneven and possibly slippy with mud grass I wouldn't go. Little festival where you can stay way out of the way of rowdy people and enjoy from a distance I would probably go.

Irrelevant to you being pregnant, but if you're not great with crowds it probably wouldn't be that enjoyable. A festival is a big old crowd.

I could barely walk past 20 weeks (SI dysfunction) I'd be concerned about the toilet situation and being crushed.

And yes as pp said I was peeing a lot by 6 months pregnant with one let alone twins and standing for hours wasn't very fun either

Will you be sitting or standing? I don't have twins but assuming it's like been 30 odd weeks pregnant with a singleton, even though I was fit and healthy no way I could have stood for more than about 20 to 30 minutes. Unlike moving, standing puts lots of pressure continuously on the same points so becomes very painful very quickly.

Plus I wouldn't want to have to keep queuing for the grim loos when the babies are pressing on your bladder.

There's no way I could have done this when pregnant with twins.

You all have very good points.

I'm actually not sure if the festival is a wild one or a casual one, but from the bands playing I fear it is the former. I emailed them and asked if any seating arrangements are available.

I was absolutely fine barely even had much of a bump at 23.5 weeks with my twins. It will all depend on you and how you are feeling/ showing by then. But I would of done (just maybe loitered at the back not the front)

I would have been fine to an extent but the toilet issue would have concerned me and also you will need to ensure there’s a seat close by just in case you get tired or start to feel faint. I wouldn’t enjoy being around rowdy drunks very much though as a side note.

I did a 14hr flight at 23 weeks with twins, I had to hire a wheelchair to get through the airport as I couldn’t walk very far.

That being said my friend is currently 26 weeks and still commuting into London everyday for work. She intends to continue until 37 weeks.

It’s hard to judge how you will be but if you already struggle with crowds I’m not sure I’d go.

I was 22 weeks pregnant when I travelled ba k from Florida in August and it was the lost uncomfortable flight I've ever had to the extent that I cried because I was so uncomfortable.

I couldn't have stood for any length of time. I wpiod worry about being jostled as I was huge (all bump) by that point.

It would be a hard pass for me.

I found someone who went to this festival and she said it was peaceful and that they brought their own fold out chairs and a blanket to sit on as well and generally took a lot of breaks. Apparently she went all 3 days at 30 weeks pregnant 🤔

I went to see Guns and Roses when 20 weeks pregnant not twins ,i didn't cope very well and had to leave early (not helped with Axle Rose being two hrs late it that's a whole other issue ) so I wouldn't recommend it

Wow 2 hours late, that's pretty shit. Did you have any place to sit?

Irrespective of the comfort, you could easily get ill with something that might harm the babies.. It sounds a bit foolhardy to me.

I feel you might struggle being that far along in your pregnancy. As well as the issues pp have mentioned about the loo etc. These the issue that it could be very warm weather in June which could make it more uncomfortable for you. I would maybe think about going to the festival next year rather than this.

Do you live in Denmark?

If you're planning on traveling abroad you may want to take into account the airlines policy on pregnant women flying and also the terms and conditions of travel insurance.

I went to a middle sized festival at 20ish weeks with both my twin and single pregnancies, but was close to where I live and I could drive home early and sleep in my own bed! Would no way have been comfortable camping.
I took a fold up camping chair for seating but you should also think about whether there be lots of walking about the site. If you get any pelvic pain this will be an issue.
I did feel a bit protective of my bump in the crowds a couple of times but generally the rowdy drunks were incredibly nice to me and usually let me jump the loo queue. I did stand/sit well back from the main stage where wasn’t too loud too, as the although advice is that the noise is safe, it did make me feel a bit uncomfortable.
Also worth bearing in mind the exposure to the weather as you don’t get much shade in extreme heat or shelter if wet.
Will it sell out or could you see if you feel up to it nearer the time? Trekking about a baking hot or muddy festival site can be exhausting to anyone, let alone when you are pregnant. Also pregnancy hormones are a rollercoaster so if you are likely to be anxious might be best not to feel tied into it.

Nope, too risky. Especially with a twin pregnancy.

I am also concerned about the heat and toilet facilities.
I don't think we can wait much longer to order the tickets, as they have some rather big names.

I do live in Denmark, but it's 6 hours from home, so we consider making a holiday out of it, staying at a hotel for 2 nights and seeing the city as well.

Thank you all for your replies, you've mentioned some things I hadn't thought of myself.

You might be able to put a blanket out etc if the band you want to see are playing during the day. If they are headlining it will likely be dark.

What festival is it? They vary a lot!!
