To enquire about your water bill?

We are two adults in a three bed house. DD is at university but is home during the holidays. Both out all day, two days per week neither of us is home until 10pm. Both term time only.
Water bill was £35pm but has now increased to £55. Seems rather a jump.
Can I ask how much similar families pay?
We're in the south.

Two of us and my DSC who are here twice a week. We have a meter, they bill us twice a year but we pay by DD and it’s £18 a month.

Is that an estimated bill or an itemised one.

Ours is £55pm, however that’s daily baths/showers, dish washer x2 daily and washing machine on multiple times a day 7 days a week.

Are you on a meter?

We're in Yorkshire and the bill for me, DH and DD(4) has just gone from £55 to £65 per month. We're on a water meter. I was also wondering about what others were paying. We only live in a 3-bed, though I use the dishwasher (half size) and washing machine twice a day on average.

I'm in the north and pay £40pm for DH, (adult) DD and I. Plus DDs boyfriend every other weekend.

We're out all day but have daily showers/baths each. Washer is only used at weekends and we put dishwasher on twice a week.

Sorry, we're on a meter too.

We're 2 adults and a 4 year old in a 2 bed. We are also out all day. Ws are metered so don't pay a set amount but our most recent bill was £55 for 4 months and that was winter so heating was on quite a lot more.

Forgot to add we also use washing machine 3ish times a week and dishwasher once every 3 days. In the North. It seems mine is really cheap!

3 bed semi, 2 adults, 1 child- is currently £65-75 each month.
Rates was £75, went on a meter expecting it to be a lot less and so far it’s barely any less at all

2 adults & 3 dc in Cornwall on a meter & we pay £70 per month! Shock

Is the "jump" because you underpaid by £10/month (based on your usage) last year, so they've increased by £20/month to correct? So your actual usage is around £45/month.

Yes, sorry, should have said, we're on a meter and have been for 12 months now. This was an itemised bill. Previously we were paying water rates, which was £58 pm and so decided it might be time to change to a water meter now we are fewer people than bedrooms.
We shower daily and occasionally twice after gym/sport. Dishwasher almost daily and I only do washing at the weekends- usually 4 loads. We even have one of those capacity reducing gadgets in the toilet cistern.
I'm a bit miffed if I'm honest. Can I complain, do you think?

Ours is ridiculous, £765 a year (£63 a month) we aren't on a metre, up north too. 3 bed semi, 4 of us, 2 adults and 2 kids under 3. I often wonder if we'd be better on a metre but with having the washer a lot and dishwasher once a day I'm not too sure? It's far more expensive than any other house I've ever lived in.

Mine is around £325 - 350 per year. I live alone in a two bed property. In what is apparently the second most expensive water authority in the UK. I have a water meter.

I do have a power shower and a dishwasher, plus a washing machine of course; however most of the charge covers sewerage rather than actual water usage. Those of us in the town(s) have to subsidise the pipes for those living in the rural areas apparently.

TheNoodlesIncident · 05/02/2019 22:25

We've just had our bill for the next year - £660 approx. So £55 per month.

We're not on a meter and I don't intend to go on one. I don't believe we'd save much and I wouldn't want to be fretting about how much we're using if I had to use more than usual.

bumpsadaisy11, why is yours so high?!

3boysandabump · 05/02/2019 22:26

There are 6 of us in my house. At least 3 baths/showers a day. At least 3 loads of washing a day and mine is £55 a month so I'd say that's high for only 2 of you

I was under the impression, dishwashers are economical.

2 adults 2 children. Daily showers for adults and EOD for children. Lots of washing/dishwasher...£20 per month in SE on a meter. It must be sticking! Can't believe what you all pay!

It's annoying as the water company has us captive. We can't threaten to leave!
