AIBU?

Is nothing sacred?!!

So after a period of medications, my hair is in awful condition. It's thin, it's dull, and generally just pretty shit. I buy it things. Conditioner, expensive shampoo, heat protection spray, various serums and masks. Nothings really helping, but still I try.

Walked past my preteen DD, and wafting beautifully from her freshly washed hair is the scent of my brand new, unopened Tigi conditioner. Is nothing sacred once they reach this age?!!

I hide my expensive stuff!

Try Shea moisture products, beware they are HEAVY but very moisturising.

They are designed for curly/Afro hair. I use them for my stupid curly hair.

I know that it's not the point, but I had a similar issue a while back.

I bought so many expensive products (masks, serums, expensive shampoo and conditioner etc) and I was advised to stop using them all.

For a month I didn't use any products, and only washed & conditioned my hair once a week, no heat styling or drying at all. I just left it to dry naturally and then tied it up in a ponytail or bun. I saw a huge difference.

My hairdresser, who is a good friend, said that often protein treatments can make hair dry and brittle with over use.

Might be worth considering?

OP
You'd take a bullet for her so you can't complain when she uses your TiGi
Smile

Sorry about the DD, it will likely get worse.

Try taking Biotin supplements, they help hair growth more than any shampoo/conditioner will do.

No, once you have kids nothing is sacred ever again. Mine have left home now and I am pleasantly surprised that things no longer mysteriously disappear but stay where I keep them. The joy of always being able to find the scissors and sellotape, no longer running out of cleanser and cotton wool pads, tights going walkabout etc almost compensates for the empty nest.

nope, and now she has used it nothing else will do, you will be expected to use supermarket shampoos etc and buy her $$ salon stuff, and forget about having your own make up... it will all be moved to her make up bag quick as you can blink and when the time comes for you to "borrow" your foundation back..... she has used it all up and replaced it with her own in a slightly different colour so you cant use it

I've been offline so I'm only seeing this now. I'm going to try the supplements and see if that helps. I'm also buying a lockbox!

Hah, just wait a couple of years.
I now buy cheaper makeup because the girls ‘can only use’ certain brands and my Bobby Brown eyeliner kept disappearing as did my Clarins moisturiser.
My stock cupboards are stripped nearly bare when they are home - even if just for the day. Deodorants, shampoos and conditioners, hairspray, soaps, razors everything.
Luckily not my scent. I only ever have one smell that is too strongly associated with me for them to use. They use their fathe’rs Amazon account for that.
In fairness, my sons raid the freezer and larder and take carrier bags of meals home with them.

Oh dear OP, you have my sympathies.
Yes, I would take a bullet for my dd, allow myself to be torn to pieces for her, but...

She’s constantly nabbing my “fancy” make up (even though she has a drawer full of MAC and Urban Decay) and has fallen for my Thalgo face masks, THALGO!!! In my day we used to make our own with egg whites and oats!!
