Fat shaming Facebook post

Sunflowerhappy · 18/03/2018 17:06

I just saw a post on Facebook that said "I hate girls who blame having a child on their chubbyness....go for a run you fat lazy shits Shock
This is coming from a woman who has a natural skinny frame, bordering on too thin. She has one child.
I just can't believe the nastiness some women have about others. The post was also liked by lots of men.
I'm over weight but I'm very active and certainly not lazy. I eat too much and I use food as a comfort. I run 5ks and I'm very fit. I wish I could lose the weight...but seeing posts like that are hurtful.
Some women put a lot of weight on in pregnancy while others do not. Some people's figures return to normal quickly and others do not...ever.
I sometimes wonder why I'm not a people person and then you see stuff like that.

Aibu to think she's just a nasty cow?

I'd post, "beauty fades, dumb is forever" then block.

If she's your friend on Facebook just delete her. She's clearly a twat so delete and forget. There is nothing you can do about stupidity.

I like Terrys reply. However just because she's skinny that doesn't mean she's "beautiful". Just as being fat doesn't make you ugly. Also even if she is superficially stunning her attitude towards other women is beyond repulsive. As for the men well they're just wank stains. I hope they don't have wives and daughters.

My mum said she is overweight because she gained 5 kilos every time she was pregnant. I asked her what happened to the other ten children. Smile

'At least fat people can lose weight if they want. You will obviously always be a c*nt'.

"blame having a child on their chubbiness"?

She sounds a bit thick.

Absolutely vile what she has written.

Very true, fish.
There's no cure for cuntiness

when I was little several mums I knew said that was why they were over weight. So I thought my friends next door were adopted because their mum was skinny. (Yes, I weigh too much myself now. Must have had 3 kids more without noticing it.)

She can't even write coherently - excess flesh doesn't have some magical pregnancy inducing properties!

In reality I'd probably roll my eyes and ignore her.

In my fantasy land, I'd write, 'I hate women who mistake lack of compassion and empathy for moral superiority.'

She clearly isn’t capable of writing a coherent post, unless she thinks women get pregnant by men who like “chubby” women...

Why does her opinion matter to you?

I would say looks fade, but you will still be a nasty judgy twat, and delete and block her.

How horrible, I’d unfriend. I unfriended the husband of an acquaintance when he kept posting statuses about seeing ‘fat messes’ in gym gear. Or something to that effect. Highly educated professional guy too, but clearly not very nice.

@Awwlookatmybabyspider it's a Judge Judy quote. Hence the wording. I think I prefer fish's one though Grin

However, actually, being charitable, she has clearly pinned all her self-esteem to fitness and meeting some ideal while shaming other women for not doing. That's a really sad, lonely, messed-up place to be and I feel sort of sorry for her. I much prefer my female friends' attitudes. We all have flaws but we love them because they are ours. And we forgive each other for stuff.

Women are trained to judge and compete. Let's teach our girls to support and cooperate with each other.

Body shaming fat or thin is a cunty thing to do. Yanbu.

Also it makes the poster look pathetic

Social media encourages the thick and nasty to showcase exactly how thick and nasty they are.

So some of her friends on FB are overweight and she thinks she can post crap like that to get the message over to him them?

Block the stupid cow.

And why is you saying she is too thing better than her saying other women are too fat?

That's no excuse. I've pinned all my self esteem and self worth on being the thinnest, lightest, 'fittest' or whatever all my life - doesn't mean I do or would have any right to put those sad, messed up ideals onto other women who actually know what's genuinely important in life and are just trying to get on with living it. Think what you like inside your head - but no obsession or disorder makes anybody apply their own insecurities to those around them - that's all on her and her nastiness.

Delete her and be done with it. She clearly struck a chord within you. But fuck that.

It's a bit like saying poor people should just try harder.

Fuck that. Delete and think no more of it.

Just quietly defriend, she’s not worth your time or thought.

I imagine you won’t be the only one.

I would just type

''sometimes, being thin is all you got''.

It's cruel, unnecessarily so, but it's the sort of thing a woman who lacks self-esteem would say. It's like, hey this is what I am good at! being thin!!!! did you hear me, I'm thin!

I'm not being anti-thin here, or thinnest. I am normal. Imo. But can see that her attitude is a bit lacking in any other meaningful achievement.

Derelict - OP is giving an anonymous, factual relevant descriptor. The person she is talking about is giving a public, subjective and unasked for attack.

Report
ikeepaforkinmypurse · 18/03/2018 17:41

She does have a point, but she is rude to put a random post like that.
Maybe she is getting bored of the "Oh you are so lucky" to be slim if she is actually putting some efforts into it.

There's no reason why a woman cannot lose her "baby weight" ever, only that she doesn't want to, or can't be bothered. It's not wrong, but it's a choice.
