DP noticed our new washing up bowl can hang above the sink space if you balance it with its handles - see third pic with an egg cup underneath.

He truly thinks this is a sensible way to store it, and so after washing up etc he always replaces it like this. Then puts things in the levitating washing up bowl to soak etc.

It drives me mad. It is clearly grotesque. His argument is that it means its not sitting in the sink possibly collecting scum from when we tip stuff down the side of the bowl down the sink. I can see his point but a) this rarely happens and b) I'd rather a bit of scum on the bottom of the bowl than a washing up bowl which looks like it's met a very unusual snake charmer.

I do that with mine. I agree with him - it’s much easier to tip stuff into the sink and saves having to clean the bowl every time. Very sensible.

I have a dishwasher but I don't understand the point in bowls?? I never had one pre dishwasher days. What's the point? I'd ditch the bowl.

Surely you simply tip and rinse everything you've used in the course of the day, wash up everything in one go in the evening (rinsed properly beforehand of course) and then wipe the bowl and put it in its hutch under the sink out of sight?

You don't want that hanging around there over the sink all blooming day!

What do people without washing up bowls do? Do you wash up direct in the sink? What if you discover half a cup of cold tea? I do have another sink about 2 metres away which admittedly I could use, but it feels a bit far to walk when I'm in the middle of a good washing up session.
Plus I live in a metred water area so use half as much this way. And I once broke a glass dropping it into a bare sink full of water rather than into a bowl.
I do already have a dishwasher so the above point is rather redundant, but it's the principle

I hate them because I used to live in a house share which had one and my housemates insisted on just leaving it full of manky smelly water all the time. Any time I wanted to do dishes I had to empty out the water and fish out all the cutlery and crap that had gathered at the bottom. Boak.

Kitchen cabinet under the sink, holds cleaning things, wipes, sponges, drip tray and washing up bowl. Oh, and in my case also the tray for peelings.

That is what I do with mine, saves underneath of bowl sitting in damp and allows everything to dry out.

Mine is not virulent green though. That is a bit thuggish, tbh.
