To think that Susie Dent is an underrated national treasure

26 years she's been on our TVs

I'm 26 this year and spent my childhood coming home from primary school, having a doughnut or icedbun or yumyum and watching Countdown with my brother and mum.

And I think she's amazing on 8 out of 10 cats does countdown- she shouldn't work on that show but she does so perfectly.

She really is quite alarmingly beautiful inside and out. Incredibly intelligent.

My mum is a big fan of her books, I keep meaning to ask if I can borrow them.

I adore her. I watched her when I was a kid and thought she was perfect on Countdown. Cut to years later, I've emigrated to NZ, come back home to UK for Christmas and due to jet lag turn on Countdown at 5:30am. Susie Dent is on looking EXACTLY the same as all those years ago. I couldn't believe my eyes.

Completely agree she is a National Treasure.

Looks are what some people will judge her, but they should be valuing her knowledge of the English language and the way its history and quirkiness is told to us on Countdown and elsewhere. I don't want us to be the 51st state of the US in all but name, and her knowledge of English as opposed to the dialect followed across the pond is invaluable.
