I have never seen this. However, lots of people I know rave about it and say it's amazing. If I watch it am I likely to get hooked? Should I stay well away? Am I really missing something great? AIBU to be not that bothered?

You will get hooked. It is amazing. It may take a little while to get into. Do it. Do it now so that you are hanging to see the final series before it starts!

I'd never watched either but started last year to find out what the fuss was about..... I'm hooked now.

I started watching last summer. I don't like fantasy or violence, but I enjoyed it. I think the characters are interesting and I like how they change as the plot unfolds. The very violent bits I don't look at. So on the whole I would say yes, give it a go.

I watched it last summer out of desperation as nothing else was on, and ended up binge watching 6 series in a month, and then watching season 7 real time.

I'd never seen it and was convinced it would not be my sort of thing at all. A friend persuaded me to try the first series last year and after two episodes I was a hopeless addict!

I was really skeptical about it and watched the first episode about 3 times (over many months) because people kept saying it was good but i couldnt get into it. Then i watched it again when i was pregnant out of sheer stubborness and binged watched them all because it was awesome Smile

First time I watched it, didn't like it. Tried it again and got hooked. Think it's a love it or hate it kind of thing.

As above. Adore it, and I usually hate anything with dragons in it.

If you value your free time, don't go near it. But if you want to see a televisual masterpiece, now's the time. You're a lucky, lucky duck for having it to look forward to and I'm a wee bit envious of you.

You will get hooked. probably by about episode 3 of series 1 at the latest.

I wanted to see what all of the fuss was about. I found the first episode quite boring tbh but pushed through as I was determined to see it through. By the end of episode 2 I was hooked and ended up bingewatching them all over a period of about 2 weeks, during which time I did not sleep or do anything except watch the show pretty much Grin

It’s one of those shows you got pay attention as there’s so many storylines but worth the watch

It’s OK

Try not to be put off by the scary bits in the first episode. The plots are so clever and the characters are brilliant. I am completely addicted now but do still have to look away at some of the more gory bits!

I was a little put off by the amount of storylines to follow at once, was sure I would never be able to understand it properly. But I did click eventually. I actually went back and watched S1 all over again recently as I wanted to make sure I didn't miss anything with not knowing who the characters are.

And I can honestly say that I have never hated a TV show character as much as I hated a certain young prince. Was odd to feel such rage over something fictional Grin

I didn't like it, crudity, violence, and nudity from the off, it's basically a pornography with bloody beheadings inbetween.

There is a lot of gore, and nudity. But there is so much more to it than that. I cannot believe anyone could watch it and come to this conclusion tbh, unless it was only one or maybe 2 episodes watched!

It’s much easier to follow if you watch season after season. Rather than waiting a full year. Rewatching it I have picked up on stuff I would have missed. It’s not a PG tv show it shows the reality of things within that time period, but underneath all the sex, blood glore is a gripping series. Seeing the characters individual journeys and them eventfully reuniting and coming together is quite something.

I avoided the TV series for years as I didn't have sky and didn't think I'd like it enough to buy on dvd.

Last year I was given the first book as a present and was hooked. I bought the first season dvd when I finished the book expecting to be disappointed with the adaptation but now I'm addicted to both.

I like that the plot isn't predictable and that the characters grow and change throughout the series. There's a bit too much blood and sex but I can ignore that because of the gripping storyline underneath.

It is so much more. I don't like the violence but it's essential to the plot. I avert my eyes.
Much less nudity as it progresses.

And the acting is excellent. Especially Peter Dinklage who is my absolute favourite.

I resisted it in the beginning but I've watched it many, many times. It gets you hooked by about the third episode.
