Am I alone in finding it unnecessarily cringey and overly sentimental? Blush or does anyone else think the same? (Feel a bit guilty posting this, as it's loved by so many people - expecting a few biscuits to come my way Wink).

It's Disney. What did you expect?

Yabvu Wink.. It's my absolute favourite film , I often wish I had a Mary Poppins in my life. I also love Saving Mr Banks, gives a good background to the film and the original stories - sobbed my heart out at the ending. Both fantastic films. I've never seen MP as especially sentimental to be honest, it's not overly 'lovey dovey' really. I think that's why I like it - you can tell she has a genuine affection for the family as do they for each other but it's not overtly expressed. For some reason I just really like that (which is odd - as I'm a very cuddly lovey person iyswim).

Can't stand it. Thankfully DC outgrew it years ago.

Have to say I'm not really a fan either OP - seems a bit dated.

My DDs love it and so do I. It’s a bit long, though, I don’t generally watch all of it in one go.

I loved this film as a child and still do from a nostalgia point of view. My only observation as an adult is what a control freak Mary Poppins was Grin.

My absolute favourite film, mostly for a) the emotional arc of Mr Banks (the true heart of the film) and b) the portrayal of a London that never existed, but is utterly beautiful and wonderfully nostalgic all the same. Plus the music is just gorgeous, especially “Mr Banks Is Discharged”. Oh, I just love it.

Made me start singing. It’s very dated because it’s very old. My children still entitled for all that.

And the book was written in 1934!

Love the whole Edwardian London thing. Also that Mary is quite spiky and abrupt. And the mr banks thing and the suffragettes. Actually yabtu op it's probably one of the best films ever. As someone who walked away from a city career and ££ lets go fly a kite always brings a lump to my throat.

It repulses me. I like not one character. They are all horrible and self absorbed. That included the nannies, the children, the parents, and dick can dyke. Added to that they are all supposed to be homely. They’re not.

Ah I love it. It used to be on every Christmas Day. Just what you need to lift your spirits and settle down for a lazy afternoon. I want DC to watch it this year.

I've never managed to watch it all the way through as either a child or an adult.

The books are meant to be quite dark. I have never read them.

Went to see the musical at the theatre the other year. It was amazing

Watched it with my daughter and she was open-mouthed captivated by Mary Poppins arriving by umbrella. You are not it's target audience.
