AIBU?

AIBU to think Donna Karan is a bit behind the times in regard to her friend Harvey?

Donna Karan tripped out the line that the women were asking for it, asking about what they wore...this bit probably stumped me more than the rest of it.
It was always my view that DK's brand was based on women wearing what they wanted to, what flattered them, empowered them. Though I won't get over the bodies I wore in the 80s 90s that gave the added fun of creating a wedge up the Noo Naa.
I respected her as a woman who wanted women to wear clothes that were practical and sexy, a woman who turned a corner in fashion.
If he is her friend, well then I suppose she felt compelled to come to his defense but to wheel out that old victim blaming shite was unexpected. I expected more of her.

She's now apologised Somewhat unconvincingly

I agree and she’s already shedding lots of celebrity clients because of it.
What an idiot to come out with this.

It is also interesting that suddenly, half of Hollywood is tripping over itself to condem Mr. W.
Bit late people?
I understand that no one want s to jepordize their career etc. but don't start with the platitudes when you all knew. Perhaps better to just shut up, it doesn't help anyone.

Yeah, but what about the gazillions of male Hollywood stars etc who are keeping completely schtum?

Just read the link to CNN>..goodness me but as wet apologies went that one takes the prize.
I particularly like the black dress with the plunging neckline and ask myself how that ties up with her views on how women present themselves.
By the way has she got pillow face in the picture or a really bad lift?

Grumpy, hang on a mo. George Clooney and Kilian Murphy have given soundbites, which I think covers the rest of the male dominated world of Hollywood. Throw a biscuit to the ladies, should settle them right down.

Bottle there is a link further up to CNN with a picture of her and HW. Her face looks scarred or something.

I just watched her comments - is she some kind of sadistic deviant?! Please can someone explain to me - what is with this creepy grin that she does when describing women asking for it? Is she harvey weinstein's escort or something, the one who locks hotel doors for him? She looks like a nasty witch here.

She's an arsehole but OP you're adding to the problems by commenting on her looks and clothes.

Report
lolaflores · 17/10/2017 18:36

mrsovertheroad, I agree, shouldn't have commented on her looks but wondered what has she done to her face in an effort to remain attractive (young) whilst casting aspertions on others who's efforts only seemed to cause them grief.
I mean, if how we present ourselves is the problem, what the frig is she doing stretching the skin on her face back down to her arse crack?
Probably might have been able to make that clearer though didn't come across like that

Has Mayim Bialik also apologised?

thewheels oh. Has some other cultural icon, part time genius chucked the tuppence worth in then?
And I hear Bjork has made a comment about a Danish director. I heard he gave Nicole Kidman a very hard time on the film Dogtown. Larson?

That Mayim Bialik is so badly judged - I'm cringing for her.

Mayim Bialik article, even.

Im shocked by what Mayim Bialik said. I mean i know she thinks sexuality should be private etc etc but i thought she was better than to say what she said.

I also think whoever did Donna Karan's facelift hates women as much as she does - cause it looks like SHIT. Like an aged leather handbag.

Yep, I’m really disappointed with Mayim’s article. I thought she was one of those women who “got it” and was a good role model. Guess I was wrong. 😕

Some controversial statements doing the rounds on twitter and instagram re dk and mayim - apparently "unsurprising that jewish women would believe that goyim women deserve to be raped at the hands of a jewish man" harvey being the jewish man.

So corrosive and toxic, the entire thing.

Personally, I was bemused by the irony of Donna Karan’s comments about asking for it on account of what women wear, when her top looked like it had a close encounter with the office shredder and was cut so low, you could admire her Hollywood wax.

What's wrong with what Mayim Bialik said? Confused

Had she said something bad and that article is a reponse or something?

Report
Bluerosethorns · 18/10/2017 00:25

@mrsover which article are you talking about? The one where she suggested her 'conservative choices' were wise and women who were born beautiful with high pitched voices deserve to be raped for not walking around in a bin bag? Or the one where she attempts to apologise? Quite important to distinguish between both.
