I'm due to have my 5th c section tomorrow morning and the fear and anxiety has well and truly hit!

Has anyone got any words of wisdom to help me calm down?

Use contraception

outnumbered4 · 25/09/2017 18:23

Erm... that was helpful. Gave me a laugh though so thanks anyway!

Lots of luck sweet you will be fine have a warm relaxing bath and enjoy last night before new one arrives x

AssassinatedBeauty · 25/09/2017 18:24

Are you worried about the operation itself, or the recovery?

TwatteryFlowers · 25/09/2017 18:25

Just keep thinking, this time tomorrow night you will have your baby in your arms FlowersCake

FuzzyOwl · 25/09/2017 18:25

Hope everything goes well and try to focus on the fact that after four sections, this is the safest way for you to deliver your baby.

Milliepede · 25/09/2017 18:26

It was a joke!

doowapwap · 25/09/2017 18:27

Good luck! You'll be fine and this time tomorrow you'll be holding a squishy little newborn. I've had 2 and had anxiety each time so I understand, my only tip is deep breaths, I found hypnobirthing techniques helped me stay calm

MorvaanReed · 25/09/2017 18:28

I started a couple of sensible, rational sentences about how, as it's planned, that's much better than an emergency, but I can't imagine you haven't tried to think that yourself.

I find if I stop fighting anxiety, acknowledge it and accept it, it gets better.

Good luck!

MorvaanReed · 25/09/2017 18:32

And funny videos on youtube, to take my mind off whatever it is, help too.

outnumbered4 · 25/09/2017 18:36

I'm scared about the op as I've had complications before, although physically I seem to have coped better with the pregnancy than last time so I'm hoping that's a good sign!

I just had my pre op appointment and they seem to be well prepared and it will be a consultant that does the actual section so in theory everything that can be done to make it as safe as possible is being done. I just have a rising feeling of panic Confused

So, you've had experiences in the past that have, naturally, made you more likely to worry. Is everyone telling you not to be silly because it will be fine? Are you trying to repress your anxiety for the benefit of other people? Can you have a big, snotty cry on someone's shoulder and try and let some of it out?

AssassinatedBeauty · 25/09/2017 18:51

I agree with @MorvaanReed, just because you've done it before doesn't mean it'll be a breeze this time. Can you talk to your partner about what's worrying you, without being given platitudes?

demirose87 · 25/09/2017 18:56

Good luck, I'm sure it will all be ok. I'm having my fourth section on Wednesday and trying to tell myself the same thing, but looking forward to having my baby in my arms Flowers

outnumbered4 · 25/09/2017 19:01

Yes that is exactly it! Everyone is saying it will be fine and I'm not good at letting on when I'm anxiousBlush going to keep myself together until the kids are in bed then have a good cry I think! I know it's silly as I really am excited to meet my little girl tomorrow

RB68 · 25/09/2017 19:06

Being anxious or not won't make any difference to any outcome. I think the best thing you can do is to have a little cry and accept the situation and that being anxious won't help and letting that go and let what will be be. I would say put your big girl pants on but not sure that would help matters. You will be in good hands remember, and good luck :-)

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 25/09/2017 19:09

I thought you could only have 3 c/sections, 4 at a huge push.

This time tomorrow it'll all be over and you'll have a new bundle of joy.

64PooLane · 25/09/2017 19:10

Good luck OP. Not to be one of those people, but I hope it WILL be fine. Smile And I don't think it's silly of you to feel like this!

DragonBone · 25/09/2017 19:13

All the best OP! I've had 4 c sections so know how you feel xx

flumpybear · 25/09/2017 19:20

Wow 5th section - not sure if you're scared if the process or the cost of five aside football boots Hmm

Good luck, you'll breeze through Wink

MorvaanReed · 25/09/2017 19:27

...until the kids are in bed then have a good cry. Good. I'm rubbing your back in spirit and telling you to let it all out Grin.

Being a bit of a stiff upper lip idiot myself, I have been known to use the "Daddy, my daddy," bit in the Railway Children to get me going.

welshweasel · 25/09/2017 19:29

As advised by my doctor, I had a warm bath and a large glass of wine the night before my section, it was lovely! Hope all goes well tomorrow.

Millipede I laughed

Claireshh · 25/09/2017 19:32

Go and get a bikini wax. Ask the beautician to make the wax extra hot so that it burns all your skin in your groin. You will be too mortified about the theatre team seeing the burns to worry about the actual operation. True story. Happened to me. 😁 You will be fine. Infact you'll be more than fine. This time tomorrow you'll have a gorgeous wee baby in your arms. ❤️

outnumbered4 · 25/09/2017 19:46

Thank you everyone, I actually feel better reading these! Love the bikini wax story Grin poor you though!
