I have been sent a warning on Facebook by a friend who obviously thinks I am going senile. Apparently I must NOT grind up wasp nests and put them up my fango as it can do damage! Who'd a thunked! When I googled it I found that It Is A Thing. Doctors have advised against it. Just in case any of you mumsnetters were thinking of doing it I implore you not to.😁

Would a whole one be ok? Is it the grinding up that makes it bad?

illegitimateMortificadospawn Fri 02-Jun-17 22:09:26

Hopefully not still with the wasps still in it...

Sagethyme Fri 02-Jun-17 22:11:39

Surely everyone knows that's stirring up a hornets nest?
Thought bees would be OK, although I guess the beehive is very dated these days?!

shockshock what the hell?! It's really bad that doctors have had to specifically advise against this confused

Well I heard on the radio this morning that wasps nests are often over 1 metre in diameter. So that would be a little tricky....

Sleep, I guess it depends on the fanjo!

Pollydonia Fri 02-Jun-17 22:18:17

What? Why? How? <wonders off shaking head >

Foslady Fri 02-Jun-17 22:18:53

Didn't the ancient Greeks or Romans use bees within a hollow penis as a form of vibrator....?
been out at the pub, can you tell

Gingernaut Fri 02-Jun-17 22:19:43

Not wasp nests per se. Oak galls.

Dried, ground and mixed into a paste to be applied to fanjos.

Who thought of that ?

Granny shock

Ikillallplants Fri 02-Jun-17 22:22:15

Who tried that first? A woman looked at a wasps nest and thought "I know, why don't I grind that up and insert it into my chuff?" confused

granny24 Fri 02-Jun-17 22:22:16

Gingernaut. Yeah I know but apparently in US oak galls house wasps!

granny24 Fri 02-Jun-17 22:23:53

Ikillallplants I am old enough not to be surprised by much, but this did it.

Tomorrowillbeachicken Fri 02-Jun-17 22:23:57

That's the wrong thing that goes buzz to go up your fanjo... next time try a vibrator.

HazelBite Fri 02-Jun-17 22:24:29

Gosh we had 9 wasps nests in our loft last year maybe i could sell them on Ebay wink

Gingernaut Fri 02-Jun-17 22:26:10

Yes. Not just the US. They're here in the UK too.

Instead of nests that we all know, there are solitary parasitic wasps which are hosted by oak trees.

The larvae develop and hatch out what are effectively mutant acorns.

Even green, they look disgusting.

This isn't one of Gwyneth Paltrow's weird Goop things, is it?

Pinkheart5919 Fri 02-Jun-17 22:27:21

Doctors have advised against it wtf? What kind of person lacks common sense so much they think grinding a wasp nest and shoving up the fanjo is a good idea?

TitaniasCloset Fri 02-Jun-17 22:28:49

I just came across this story too. shock

Jupitar Fri 02-Jun-17 22:29:49

Who tried that first? A woman looked at a wasps nest and thought "I know, why don't I grind that up and insert it into my chuff?

The same person who saw an egg come out of a chickens arse and thought I'm going to eat that ?

I guess that's my hen party plan out the window.
