AIBU?

To have a complete fucking meltdown over pancake day

Frillyhorseyknickers · 28/02/2017 20:15

I'm almost convinced I am being unreasonable but you know what - fuck it.

It's pancake day, I love pancake day - all the pancakes and fat, happy fillings. We ALWAYS do pancake day, ever since I was a littlie- pancake day is a thing in this household.

So I got up at fuck knows what time, rode my horses in the semi darkness, chewed on my semi cardboard Alpen light on the 07.07 to Kings Cross, but uplifted because... pancakes.

There were lots of pancakes in my lunch meeting which I avoided because "we always have pancakes in an evening" so opted for the starting-to-curl-dry cheese sandwiches and called in at the shop en route home for pancake fillings.

Where is my DH? He's in bed. Not arsed about pancakes, he had a chicken Kiev earlier. He doesn't see the issue - have a pancake by yourself if you like - what a little pity party pancake for one? Really?

I know I'm unreasonable and a chicken Kiev is more filling 🙄 I'm 11 weeks pregnant and I have a LOT of feelings this week. Pancake pity party at mine, anyone 🎉

You're pregnant?

Pancakes for two then. Baby wants Nutella and strawberry.

Make yourself a stack and when he inevitably gets up for one lured by the smell of lovely pancakes, do your best flip and land it 'accidentally' on his head.
But seriously, makes youself some. If there's battery left, stick it in the fridge overnight and look forward to more pancaky goodness for breakfast.

No, you have it all wrong, you can now have all of them. The baby needs them for development. Sod DH (and I hope your pregnancy hormones subside soon) Grin

Make a lovely big stack. Eat them next to him. If he wants one say "well you're not fused and if I give you one then I won't be having one by myself if I like, will I?"

Why is your DP in bed this early and why did he not wait to have dinner with you, regardless of whether pancakes are on the menu? Also, have you had a pancake day with him before?

Yanbu. We had savoury pancakes for dinner and sweet pancakes for pudding, they were lush. I get really excited about pancakes, even if I can have them all year round.

Can I come and join your pancake pity party please? I'm 18 weeks pregnant but we aren't having pancakes tonight because DH has his Slimming World weigh in tomorrow evening so the plan is to have them after that instead. I understand and I know it makes sense but dang it I want pancakes smothered in golden syrup! I already feel sick so surely it doesn't matter if I eat my weight in pancakes too!

Make them! It's not a pity pancake party, it's a fabulous feast for one and a half. Baby needs pancakey-goodness. Get flipping!

I suspect if DH did that I'd make an extra pancake, leave it to go cold and drape it over his face while he was sleeping.

But I'm spiteful Grin

Op, I had pancake cravings during my 2nd pregnancy. I thought nothing of making up a pint of batter and then noshing the lot.
I have since been introduced to the idea of pancakes and crispy bacon.
The only reason I'm not drooling at the thought of that is that I've just eaten a whole load!!
Baby wants pancakes! Go on!

I understand how lonely and silly it feels keeping up these traditions by yourself, but once your baby is born it will feel lovely and tribal and your DH will sheepishly shuffle through and want at least three pancakes and thereafter expect them annually! He just needs to be house-trained.

Spoke about pancakes with my dh when planning dinners, got to today and made the mixture, even went and bought more milk, to be told that he's not that fussed about pancakes!! Hmmm at what point in our 10 year relationship and 10 years of eating pancakes did you tell me this?? Oh well pancakes this evening and some for breakfast too! Enjoy yours too OP!

You + baby= pancakes for 2, it's just a shame the baby can only get their share by you eating them...

Although, YWBU to not have pancakes at lunch time too.

Pancakes are weird!

Every single year, wa say "OMIGAWD - Pancakes are LUSH! We will have them EVERY DAY!"

And then don't have any for a year Sad
