Once a cheater always a cheater, he ditched his wife to shag the other host on American bake off. He's not the type of person that should be involved in a family show.

Heres hoping for Jamie

I don't care what happens now, it's not bake off without Mel and Sue.

Jamie who?

Nah, James Martin I so would

LOL if we excluded every TV program host that's cheated on their partner we'd soon be watching the same three presenters on everything.

Their personal lives are just that. Or rather should be.

PH cheating on his wife really doesn't alter his ability to judge baking.

Yes it's a 'family show' but he wasn't shagging ON the program. No little snowflakes will be harmed in the watching of the GBBO.

If Paul and Mary go too, Channel4 will have paid £25 million for a tent and a bag of flour

It won't be the same without Mel and Sue Sad

Agree with TheLastHeatwave I don't condone cheating but his personal life has got nothing to do with his job. I don't think the show would survive without him or Mary

nice idea, bit of fancy camera work and fun but totally flogged to death ( the programme not him)

I don't think the show will survive without Mel and Sue, I mean I was annoyed that year when they changed their mixers from Kitchenaids.

This is the equivalent of the uproar over Top Gear, it will also die a death the way Top Gear has.

I'm gutted Mel and Sue won't be on it but even worse would be no Paul Hollywood or Mary Berry; they make the show!

Paul Hollywood's personal life has nothing to do with it.

(I confess as well that he is my "odd" crush because I'm 26 and he's possibly old enough to be my father, but I think for an older bloke there's something quite attractive about him.)

Yeah because cake infidelity never mix well Hmm

Jamie as in Oliver?

I won't judge him on his personal life but I will judge him on how he comes across on the TV. Which is as a sexist, arrogant tosser who loves himself, so yes I hope he gets the push.

The greedy bastards production company won't care if it sinks of not. They've got their £25 million for 3 years contract, yes that's £75million! Why should they give a shit, they can retire and sail off into the sunset.

Having come across PH at a fete, he came across as rather up himself- although a fellow band member got a selfie sniffing his beard (don't ask!) no time for self absorbed attitude.

Hang on a minute OP, you want Paul Hollywood off the show because he cheated on his wife and you want to swap him for Jamie Oliver? Hmmm, that seems like a case of 'jumping out of the proving drawer and into the oven'

LastHeatWave is correct, if fidelity is a criteria for hosting a baking show we'll have to make do with Nigel Slater...actually, that's not a bad idea.

I've seen him live with Mary at a show and they were hilarious and very risqueGrin

I think he's being very harsh this series.

I can't see what his personal life has got to do with his professional life? Would you want to be held to account at work for the decisions you make within the confines of your home and family? I bloody well wouldn't!

It's going to be a Top Gear all over again - money ploughed into something that won't work because it's the presenters that can make or break it.

Where they're on more of a losing streak will be the addition of advert breaks and the mind-numbing 'catch ups' at the beginning of each segment which will mean less actual observation of the bakers and what they're doing. I don't think it will sustain itself by lengthening the programme to make up that shortfall either.

They think it's all over, it soon will be!

RedHelenB · 14/09/2016 08:09

It will be a totally different show on C4 and I can't see that I will watch it.I do think it has come to an end now, challenges are getting repetitive. I'm sure the bbc can come up with something else in its place!

What a stupid thread!! Bake off is bake off due to those 4 hosts

It will just be a boring coming comp without them

Can't see what cheating has to do with it?? And 'family show'..... It's for adults!

Although, to be fair, Mary Berry hasn't punched anyone in the face yet.

JAMIE OLIVER????

This can't be a serous post.

Who'd you like to replace Mel and Sue - Trevor and Simon?

Mary Berry with whom? Davina McCall?

Someone on TV has just suggested Ant and Dec. Dear God, I genuinely could not watch anything involving those two talentless buffoons.

Short termism from the production company. I suspect the next time they pitch an idea to the BBC they will be told to take it to channel 4.

I would hope channel 4 has performance targets in their contract.

Mind you, I am not that keen on Mel and just don't find Sue funny at all.
