I was advised not to buy one by an electrical shop chap once. I'd told him I hadn't room for both, so it wasn't a sales pitch. I just have a washing machine and dry things on an aired or outside (if it ever stops raining) but then I don't do the 34678912 loads of washing a day many MNers claim to do.

No to a washer dryer. Personal experience. Never heard anything positive - sorry

Given that the alternative is going without a dishwasher, then hell yeah - buy it!

I have only had very poor experiences with a washer/dryer, you usually have to take out the washed clothes, put half back and it takes ages. It is not like having a tumble dryer.

I don't think you should make a snap decision on a washer/dryer because the man in the shop is pressuring you at all.

If you are used to a separate dryer then you'll think a washer dryer is terrible. Burning love mine.

Don't buy. Indesit is a shit brand. Washer-driers mean there's more to go wrong. Also, drying takes ages and means you can't do any more washing until you're done.

No to washer dryer. I'd rather do without dishwasher!

No! Personal experience here - they're crap! I've had three due to space issues in the past and when this one finally dies I'm replacing it with a stand alone washer.

I would consider reorganizing the kitchen, possibly putting freezer elsewhere, getting a tabletop dishwasher, anything, but I wouldn't go without either the dishwasher or the tumble drier now, but we have a lot of washing and a lot of plates and both work long hours.

No, I had one once and it was crap. Would never get another one.

I wouldn't had a fancy all singing all dancing Miele one once. Thought it would be great given the brand. The dryer part was shite! Even if the drum was completely dry before putting washing back in it would still be damp after 2 hours on high heat. This was 7 years ago so they may be better now.

I have always had a washer dryer and just use it to get extra things dry, not everything, you do need somewhere else in the house or outside to dry the bulk of stuff. I wouldn't be without one and the last one I got 13 years ago is only just needing replacing now.

Don't get a washer dryer.

Get a decent washing machine and dry other ways.

And also, indeshit appliances are awful.

dont get a washer dryer!

Report
insancerre · 10/01/2016 15:37

No! They are rubbish
You can't dry a full load
You can't wash if you are drying
It takes aaages to dry
The next wash you do after you've dried will be covered in fluff
Spend your money on a decent washer and air dry on an airer
But definitely get a dishwasher :)

Yes to washer dryer. I've had one for 25 years ( well not 1, but 3 during that time). We are a family of 5, and its used every day. Current one is AEG, works fine, now about 3 years old, think it was around 200 quid, i.e. not top end model.
I don't use it for all drying, but its essential to have a dryer available for crises!

Nay, nay and thrice nay. Total waste of money. And YY to Indesit being a pile of shite.

Can't comment on the dishwasher, only ever had Zanussi ones personally.

I personally love my washer dryer, but it is an AEG, and I only tumble dry smalls, and hang evrything else out. Also, as PP have said, Indesit are crap.

My advice would be not to buy anything today, but just have a look at what you like the look of, and then come home and get a much better deal on line. Appliances Online are generally very good, nd can deliver next day.
