To think a dark chocolate coated brown rice cake should have less calories than a Jaffa cake not double!

In trying to lose a bit of weight. Bought a packet of 6 dark chocolate brown rice cakes thinking they would be low calorie. However i now see they are 91 calories per cake! Double that of a Jaffa cake!

I assumed dark and brown would be healthier sad

At least the chocolate and carbs will be better than Jaffa's right???!!?

I'm still hungry after them, 12 Jaffa's would of filled me up

Shoud've looked at the label in the shop.

carmellasoa Tue 10-Nov-15 14:17:03

Shoulda woulda coulda!

Anyway they were healthy calories however? Not junk?

PatriciaHolm Tue 10-Nov-15 14:21:20

I think you're supposed to eat 1, not the packet...

You know what 'thought' did, right?

Classic marketing technique and you fell for it.

ConstanceMarkYaBitch Tue 10-Nov-15 14:23:40

Aren't they three times the size? hmm

SnozBuriedUnderThePatio Tue 10-Nov-15 14:24:05

I wouldn't call a chocolate rice cake a health food there's probably just as much sugar aswell. Were they not bigger than a jaffa cake though? The big round kallo ones are nice

But the size difference, unless it was a midget rice cake, there's got to be 4 times the chocolate at least.

Nabootique Tue 10-Nov-15 14:25:28

Look, it's clearly fate's way of telling you to just have a couple of Jaffa cakes instead of below par substitutes.

BockCadger Tue 10-Nov-15 14:43:55

They're a snack, not a meal? grin

MaisieDotes Tue 10-Nov-15 14:45:21

Have some plain rice cakes and then 1 Jaffa cake.

SnozBuriedUnderThePatio Tue 10-Nov-15 14:49:43

Melt some jaffa cakes between 2 rice cakes like a smore

carmellasoa Tue 10-Nov-15 14:58:30

Yes I admit there is a size difference but there is also a air difference. I exoecte about 29 calories tbh

MrsCorbyn Tue 10-Nov-15 15:16:16

Nope it should have fewer :p HTH

MelanieCheeks Tue 10-Nov-15 15:17:42

Well a rice cake alone is around 30. And it's a big surface area for chocolate. Hey, every day's a school day!

Mistigri Tue 10-Nov-15 15:56:54

Why on earth would you waste perfectly good chocolate on something as disgusting and tasteless as a rice cake.

Just eat a couple of squares of dark chocolate ffs!

whois Tue 10-Nov-15 16:13:37

You ate 6 at 91 calories eaxh and are meant to be loosing a bit of weight??? You don't loose weight by eating 6 chocolate covered rice cakes because you're a bit peckish.

grumpysquash Tue 10-Nov-15 16:38:52

You could have had a Twix and a Mars bar for the same calories shock

Whoknewitcouldbeso Tue 10-Nov-15 16:42:32

This is why many diets don't work. You kid yourself that something is healthy and much of the time it has more calories than the 'unhealthy' alternative.

Seriouslyffs Tue 10-Nov-15 16:48:51

Double check it's not kilojoules you're reading.

ChippyMinton Tue 10-Nov-15 16:57:56

Never mind the Jaffa cakes, you could've had a cheeseburger and fries instead.

IjonTichy Tue 10-Nov-15 16:58:57

Just because it doesn't taste as good as a Jaffa Cake doesn't mean it will have fewer calories. Sadly. As has already been said, there's a lot of chocolate on those things. Eating six in one go is just madness if you're trying to lose weight. Moderation is the key.

Plain rice cake with a smear of Nutella. A lot less cals.
