To leave bedding on for two weeks?

Not riveting this topic, I know!

I've been unwell recently, still not great but a bit better. I'm a SAHM and care for my ds who is 14 with autism and OCD. It can be exhausting.

Obviously, as I'm not working, I do all household jobs/gardening/errand running etc and DH is often away. This weekend, I though f**k it! I'm NOT changing the beds (I usually do all beds on a Sunday). My question is: do you strip and change your beds weekly? Also towels... We each have bath sheets which get changed twice weekly. My niece recently stayed and went through 4 bath sheets in 2 days. We shower morning and evening (though ds just showers and hair wash each morning).

In theory weekly.
At worst kids every ten days or so and ours fortnightly. Jus doing ours now, it's been ages :(
I think anything more than monthly is personal preference. Less than monthly is a bit grim imo

It's fine, hope you are feeling better now, if it's worrying you, change them now, if it's not just leave them until next Sunday. Don't be too hard on your self.

I always do beds fortnightly (unless DC are particularly sandy/suncreamy/dirty).

Towels I don't do on a particular schedule.

I do mine fortnightly. Once weekly would be nice, but I don't think fortnightly is gross, or anything like that !

Ours are done when I have the energy to do them. Ideally I want them doing weekly but realistically it's every 3 weeks.

Ooh I love a good bed thread

The last one revealed all sorts of odd people who changed their beds daily and washed their towels after every use. I hope for more of the same this time!

I plan to do them weekly but in reality it's often more like fortnightly for us. Kids' bedding is changed a lot more often though as their sheets end up looking grubby quickly!

I think you have to do what works for you.

You have a lot on your plate and as the mother of a now 25 year old who's very severely autistic plus a few other things for good measure I think a rest is better for you personally than changing the sheets,

i don't work FT and I couldn't even manage to get all the bedding washed and dried weekly, if I wanted to. It usually ends up being fortnightly, on average.

As for towels, hand towels are changed daily or more, personal bath towels get 2 or 3 uses.

You can't clone yourself, so prioritise what you need to. You have bigger concerns than a theoretical critical mass of sweat and poo particles.

That would be me for reasons I don't have to explain all over again though I dont change my towels after each use, its daily.

It doesn't take long, about 7 minutes, and its part of my morning routine. I change the bed, bung the bedding in a chute and it slides down to the laundry room where someone takes care of it.

I have no set routine but I think on average it is every 10-14 days. Why did you niece use so many towels, coudn't she have used the same ones?

Mind you saying that... I have a high maintenance friend (luv her really I do) who stays from time to time. OMG she gets through towels, god alone knows what she does with them, there is always a towel moutain when she leaves even after one night.

I think it's beyond ridiculous to wash family's towels every time they are used.

And if I'm ill everything goes to pot.

There is absolutely no need to beat yourself up over this. No-one ever died from unchanged bedsheets outbreaks of contagious disease notwithstanding

My attitude is if dh or I want them changing more regularly than fortnightly we're more in a position to do so. The kids aren't. But ds is 8 so about time he learned!

I do them somewhere between weekly and fortnightly depending on when I can be bothered. Towels are done when I remember, or when the ones in the DC's bathroom walk to the washing machine by themselves. But I'll admit to taking a bit of a lazy attitude to that stuff.

My Italian SIL washes towels after every use. She's always been quite strict with housekeeping and it drives my brother mad, even now they've been married years. Their house is spotless and stunning though; I visit and wish I could live that way.

I have a super clean friend too. She says "ewwww mingin' when I put a towel back on a towel rail!"

can't work it out. It's damp not radioactive.

Ds had his changed today as he had a wet bed this morning so, I'm glad I didn't do his yesterday.

The morning and evening shower is just habit. Morning to hair wash and get ready for the day and evening, a nice warm shower to relax for bed. Only takes two mins in and out!

Oh Christ the lounge windows could do with a clean too (curse you sunshine!).

Goodness me, I change our bed weekly and would do dc fortnightly if they were at home. But towels? Well, we use then when we are clean, right? Then hang them on a warm rail to dry and air. So they get washed when I think of it not all that often. They genuinely look and smell clean. I cannot conceive of washing them more than once a week and after every use seems obsessive...what's dirty about a towel that has died a clean! fresh body?

Fortnightly beds here as standard, although ideally I'd do it after ten days. It's such a faff though, have a super king bed with six fucking pillows and heaving the duvet about is so annoying.

Towels are weekly.

It's all very routine driven so after our showers on a Sunday the towels are dumped in the hall. Sunday evening I take them downstairs and DH puts out the new towels.

Bed linen weekly. Towels ongoing (I do two really hot white washes a week and towels go in there but they aren't washes specifically for towels)
