AIBU?

To be annoyed my SIL called her dog this name?

My DD (1 1/2) is called Connie, I've loved that name for years. And now my sister in law has just gotten a puppy and called it Bonnie. It's so close it made me a little mad I sort of know I'm being a little unreasonable it's just a name so really I'm looking for someone to tell me to get a grip! Haha!

Yes yabu, actually I think Bonnie is a common dog name. Why would you be upset?!

You need to get a cat called Donnie now
Then a fish called Lonnie
a gerbil called Ronnie
and maybe a rabbit called Sonnie?

Yes, you're BU.
Ah, remember the Blue Peter dog called Bonnie!

Here's a free grip - sorry but I would just let it go unless there's other 'ishoos' with your SIL. I actually called my dd virtually the same name as my sister's dog (dog came first) and didn't even make the connection until a few months later!

My Auntie had a dog named Bonnie and a dgd named Connie...and a cousin Ronnie(man) no one remarked on the rhymes and it never struck me till you mentioned it. Here's a nice grip for you Grin

We called our cat Mary-Margaret, and my best friend and SIL both have awkward double barrelled names - think Catherine-Grace and Laura-Jane. My SIL was not amused,as she takes herself rather seriously. Do you take yourself too seriously, do you think?
I know a family with a dog Jack and a son Jake. The dog was born firstSmile

I in no way take myself seriously, I cannot understand why it annoyed me at all?! My sisters dog has the same name as our dog and her cats name is like one step away from my name and that didn't bother me at all! Think I must be hormonal!

Is she looking after your dd a lot? She might just think if she calls out "Connie", both niece and dog will answer, saving her calling out twice?

Hahahaaa reni1 that is genius!

My daughter name rhymes with my mums old dogs name, she didn't seem put out when I named my daughter.

Lots of dogs called Bonnie - is a common dog name like Sheba, Goldie etc...

My in - laws' dog's name ends in the same 3 letters as my name. She's also a very naughty dog and whenever they shout at her I think they're shouting for me.

Queue lots confused "yeah? You looking for me?" From me, and confused looks from them.
I think it's funny.

I don't think YABU. I do love the name Connie though. You don't hear it much these days. :) I vastly prefer it to Bonnie.

Your daughter will probably love being like a little team with the puppy when she's a bit bigger - the adventures of Connie and Bonnie! It'll be great, embrace it Smile
