AIBU?

To be fed up of having to wear leggings in hot weather!

Okay, I'm fat. I'm a size 20/22. I feel beautiful but obv have points of my body I HATE, like my legs and my arms. I have cankles!

I wear vintage dresses daily, I don't own any jeans ect

But I am sick to death of feeling like I have to hide my fat legs/ cover my arms up because I don't want to have the mick taken out of me.

So what does everyone wear under dresses?

Currently wearing leggings

Just my knickers today, too hot for tights. Bit of Body Glide on the inner thighs to ward off any chafing though.

How about a maxi dress?

More comfortable than leggings

I have got all the bits I'm self conscious about out today. Getting on the tube and it's too hot to worry about my fat bits.

Just wear the dress no leggings. Everyone looks hot and sweaty in heat. I wear shorts and I'm a 20 with pale white legs.

If you'll be more comfortable then get your legs out OP, if someone is offended by a strangers bare legs then they are WEIRD. Or a longer dress if you'll be too self conscious?

To a certain extent I'm trying not to care about my legs, but ideally would prefer my dresses to come just on my knee/just past it. Then you don't get to see much.

Your legs don't have to be magazine standard to get them out.

I'll be watching this thread too!

It's my cankles that I worry about the most. I don't wear maxi dresses, I wear vintage swing dresses mostly x

Does this actually happen or do you just think it might?

I wear little cycling shorts under my dresses to avoid uncomfortable thighs but otherwise go bare legged. I've also stopped covering my arms up. They're huge and hideous but I'm stuck of being uncomfortable in the heat. Comfort first, everyone else be damned! I probably sound a lot more confident than I am... Wink

I think you should just wear what's comfortable and forget about what anyone else thinks. When I was younger I actually had people pointing and commenting on how they'd never seen such pale skinny legs as mine ever and it put me off baring them for years. Now I'm 40 (and not so skinny but still blue/white! ) I've got them out because it's just too hot to cover up and also I think what's the point of suffering in the heat because of what horrible people might think.

Well get a couple of maxi dresses just for very hot days?

It's waaay to hot for leggings. I couldn't stand them clinging to my skin.

you don't have to wear leggings. This is the UK (I assume) and there is no dress code beyond the basic covering up of the torso between shoulders and knees-ish. Except on the beach.

Do people really make fun of you?

I am big, I wear 3/4 length cotton trousers or maxi dresses, yesterday I was at the pool in a tankini. No one maked fun of me. There were plenty of people much bigger than me, revealing a lot more flesh - but so what, I am not making fun of them, I am just thinking it's great that we can all enjoy the swimming and sunshine and so what if some of us are large?

Don't worry about other people's opinions. The best thing I ever learned was to be happy in my own skin. Smile

There was a thread similar to this the other day, only about arms. The concensus was, wear what you like and what you feel comfortable in. I saw some very large ladies yesterday , some wearing shorts ,some wearing maxi dresses or strappless tops. Good for them, no reason why they should have to cover up and feel hot and sweaty.

It shouldn't matter what other people think OP! It's way, way too hot for leggings or trousers at the moment. I'm at home in just a t-shirt and it's bordering on too warm already! Sod everyone else, stay cool!

Ladies for the chaffing I really recommend these knickers I got off Amazon, they are like really thin cycling shorts and they are really light, I pop them on over my pants and they have saved me as I really suffer from chaffing, I can't remember exactly what they are called but I got them off amazon.

I just slather my legs in dove summer body for a few days to give them a nice glow and then wear skirts or maxi dresses but I also wear leggings a lot too.

I'm wearing a dress with a t-shirt over the top and tights because I prefer to be hairy but society doesn't approve.

Long loose skirt. I don't want to share my legs with the world but its far too hot for trousers, let alone leggings.

Maxi dress! Less area to put sun cream on top!

A dress just over the knee is perfectly fine.

There was a mum at school yesterday wearing shorts so small you could see her bum crease and knickers. That was going too far, and no- I'm not weird.

Wear what you want and fuck anyone who would be sad enough to 'take the mick'.

When you say you 'don't' wear maxi dresses, do you mean you really really wouldn't countenance it? Because they ARE very cool in hot weather, and obviously hide a lot too.

And how many peoples ankles did you note yesterday, large or small? They aren't typically at a level I look at!

Can you get slightly longer swing dresses or even maxi swing dress like this, and ditch the leggings?

I didn't think people wore knickers under those ultra short shorts.

I'm away at the moment. In the south east. Forgot to pack my skirt/maxi. Six months pregnant, in high band mat jeans. Please, just wear the dress, reading your op just made me feel warmer Confused. Nobody cares, they're too busy being too bloody hot.
