To bake some cakes for the class I volunteer in?

I read with a class that do SATs this week, and I was thinking of baking some chocolate chip buns for them to take in, to say well done on working hard. They are only little to be doing tests, and I thought it might cheer them up a bit.

As a parent would it bother you, or do you think it's a nice gesture? I love baking and have some eggs I need to use this week

Aw that's sweet - I would have no problem with that. No doubt you'll need to ask parents permission as they're not wrapped and baked in a certified kitchen....

I would think it's lovely, but do check with the teacher whether any children have allergies and see if you can give them something different. My two have multiple allergies and always feel sad and left out of these things.

I've taken in chocolates at Christmas and Easter for the class I work in and I hand these to the teacher for her to decide when best to give them. I wouldn't take in home baking just in case kids had allergies etc. If someone did, I would expect they would be given them at home time so in theory at least it becomes the parents decision (though they would probably be scoffing them before the parents saw them). Some schools might say it goes against healthy eating policies.

If there's more than one class in the year group then the school probably won't allow it because it's unfair on the other children.

Check with the school first.

I think it's a lovely idea. Just check if any kids have allergies though. Otherwise I would be happy for my child to have a treat.

Only one class in the year group, and it's this afternoon I'm in, so not really any chance to check.

The teacher has given home made buns out before at home time, and they have a lot of bun sales in school with home made stuff, so don't think home made would be a problem?

I'm pretty certain there are no allergies, and I will give them out at hometime, with the teachers permission obviously :)

Agree, check for allergies but unless there's anything really serious allergy wise you should be fine.
