To be really angry about my DD's hair?

My four year old DD had lovely long (almost to her bum) hair, but in need of a trim. We're members of a health club and they have a salon and they had space so I took her in, she really wanted curly hair so I asked for a trim and then if they could curl it for her.

Because of the curling the trim wasn't immediately obvious, and it looked obviously shorter curled, as hair does.

This morning I washed and brushed it and it's horrendous. They've taken about 5 inches off and it's so badly cut. Some random pieces are as much as two inches longer, it's like a crescent shape in general with the left being long and the right being much higher. It looks awful (so noticeably) and my friend we saw today pointed out how terrible it was.

I called the salon and they're too busy to fix it and didn't seem very apologetic. I went there to show them just how rubbish it is and they said they can only fix it at 8.30 tonight (she's 4, so way past bedtime) and weren't prepared to budge.

I'm so upset about it. She looks ridiculous. And now it's not curled it even looks stupid in a pony tail with long strands hanging out of the bottom.

AIBU to be so annoyed and upset about this? And AIBU to think they should work something out and rectify their mistake?

Aside from anything else, they're going to have to cut even more off to fix it, she's going to end up with basically a bob. I'm so gutted.

I'd fix it myself. I wouldn't let them touch it again.

No but she's 4 and bobs are cute and more practical. Take her somewhere else I would. Take pictures first though to shame them with if you need it (not sure if the haircut was part of your membership? Otherwise you want a refund)

It's so bad I don't even know where I'd start with doing it myself... I tried to post a before and after picture but it's just loading and not doing anything.

It wasn't part of our membership, it's extra.

I was there but also occupying my 20 month old and sitting in front and to the side of her so couldn't immediately see. I only saw the finished result properly when it had been completely curled...

Oh no this is why I am never cutting DD's hair

I would kick up a fuss on their Facebook page take picture name and shame twitter works wonders for getting companies to take notice. You've tried the nice way and been reasonable they are in the wrong and being obstructive so let them have it!

Take her somewhere else and get it rectified, don't trust them to do the job.

Fortunately hair grows back. I say this as someone who had 2 inches more than requested chopped off the front of my graduated bob a couple of days ago. Luckily it looks lovely and it's now in great condition! Still, it's not what I wanted/expected though (mobile hairdresser, no mirror in front of me to check progress).

She's 4 and will look beautiful regardless of how straight her hair cut is.

I'd trim it myself, or take her somewhere else that has been recommended.

I wouldn't get worked up about it. My grandma says, "there's only 2 days difference between a bad haircut and a good one" [grin

Oh that is terrible YANBU to be gutted, I would be too.

Write a letter of complaint to the health club with photos. Insist on a refund and take her somewhere else to get it sorted. Don't let it go.
