AIBU?

to be upset that someone reported me on fb?

One of the people on my friends list has reported one of my pictures for nudity as I had posted a pic of me breastfeeding my daughter Sad

I have no idea who it was because I thought everyone I had on my list were decent people.

If anyone is interested I am posting feeding photos on fb under the hashtag #BreastfeedingIsNotNudity.

I feel so let down - I don't want to be friends with someone that holds that sort of view...

Post a status 'would the person who reported my photo kindly remove themselves from my friends list as I don't wish to be friends with you'

Are you sure it was a report? I think - although I could very well be wrong - that because FB are so anal about this issue that they might have 'keywords' that alert them to pictures like yours. Might be an idea to check this theory out before ditching friends.

It said on the notification that someone had reported it

It probably wasn't any of them. Facebook uses image scanning technology to flag up pictures they deem unsuitable (they are arses about this, and totally inconsistent, but that's a different thread...), so try not to take it personally.

As far as i know breastfeeding pictures are allowed so the picture shouldn't be removed?

Report
BOFster · 19/11/2014 22:50

They do say that though, but it's the system which generates the report, IYSWIM?

I agree with you - but you are rather waving a red flag to make yourself a target for those who don't. Do you need the aggressive tag? Really? Isn't the whole point that breastfeeding shouldn't be a big deal?

Ahh i see. I can't unfriend anyone anyway because I don't know who it could be. It was a pic in a comment rather than an actual post in itself if you know what I mean.

YANBU to be pissed off that someone on your friend list is a twat

But why the pics and the #BreastfeedingIsNotNudity?

FB settled this issue long ago, and now accept these pics.

If I were you, I'd spend your time looking closely at your friend list and have a bit of a weeding out session.

Every day I think Facebook is lamer and lamer. FFS. I think I'm going to delete my account.

Report
WorraLiberty · 19/11/2014 22:53

It's not Facebook's fault Gunpowder

It was the twat who chose to report

I take it FB haven't removed the pic, OP?

Oh that's pathetic.

I don't know what people think breasts are for.

I did report someone on FB the other day, but that was for sharing some racist vitriol (they were a friend of a friend of a friend with a public profile)
I wouldn't report someone I knew for a ridiculous reason. Generally if someone has posted something with which I take umbrage, I'll message them privately and explain why I feel it is inappropriate/offensive.

I think you should follow NoArmani's advice.

I think you should also complain to FB who don't seem to understand the difference between nudity and breastfeeding.

I had the same tho was bums. I had an album of Bums on there and every now and again I would get reported and banned Hmm

First was an hour. Then a day. Then 3 days. Then a week and then told if I posted nudity and pornagraohic pics again I would have a lifetime ban. Wtf !!!!!

Was a 'friend' tho fb won't tell me who

The hashtag is because myself and a couple of my bf friends were really angry that people would report it as nudity. There isn't even any clear boobage on show ffs! it riles me that Kim Kardashian gets shared left right and centre and I can't share a snuggly pic of me and my weeks old baby.

It makes it harder for my friends who breastfeed but are too nervous to go out in public Sad

It hasn't been removed as yet although I have replicated it in my profile picture so whatever.

hopefully they will restore it after the 'review' if they are now allowing it.

I don't mind waving a red flag about it though noone has made a negative comment as yet!

I think that's an over reaction to a random twat on the internet, clicking a button purely because they can.

I take it FB didn't remove the pic?

If you hashtag it I thought the picture than became visable to anyone that searched #BreastfeedingIsNotNudity on facebook. I've just done a quick search and two pictures came up of people who I aren't friends with, no friends in common etc and the option was there to report it as well....

Yeh Worra I know it's not their fault. Just keep reading about people being upset by posts/lack of likes/racists. It used to be fun.

At least on MN if someone calls you a twat you don't know them. On FB it's your friend! Sad

That's stupid. Breasts are for feeding babies. Confused

I really hope it wasn't one of your friends and what really happened was actually what a PP suggested.

Report
Blondeshavemorefun · 19/11/2014 23:04

Yes if you # hashtag a status then lots of people will see it as will then be viable to anyone who types in breastfeeding nudity etc
