AIBU?

To get, some might say, far too irate with song lyrics that Make. No. Logical. Sense *screams with rage*

Just for example, and it annoys me every time I hear it,

Both Nirvana and Malcolm in the Middle were not big when you were little.

Nirvana was big in the late 80's/early 90's

MitM started in 2000.

Rage

Hmm I was little in the early 80s so is that statement not true??

YANBU. This is the kind of thing that drives me potty as well. I have also been known to scream argue back at the presenters and callers on talk radio. I need a new rage valve Smile

For me it's alanis morrisette and 'ironic' where she lists lots of things that are nothing to do with irony.

Then I found this m.youtube.com/watch?v=nT1TVSTkAXg&desktop_uri=%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DnT1TVSTkAXg which I love.

There's one at the moment suggesting we should "Put our hands up like the ceiling can't hold us"

WTF does that mean?

Oh and the lyric 'I don't want to see a ghost, rather have a piece of toast' is the worst lyric ever

I don't want to see a ghost,
Its the sight that I fear most,
I'd rather have a piece of toast
And watch the evening news

I suppose that depends on your definition of 'little'. Eliza Dolittle was born in 1988, so could have been aware of Nirvana from an early age, whilst still enjoying Malcolm in the Middle aged 12, which I would count as still fairly little. I haven't actually heard the song though, and am pretty sure that I would be annoyed by it too anyway.
I am still annoyed with the Clash - if staying will be double trouble then bloody go and stop asking!

Showing my age here, but there was a Deacon Blue song that contained the line "I'll do what I should've did" which used to give me The Rage. They were generally shit, but that really pissed off the pedant in me.

"Yellow mother custard, dripping from a dead dog's eye.
Crabalocker fishwife, pornographic priestess,
Boy, you been a naughty girl you let your knickers down.
I am the eggman, they are the eggmen.
I am the walrus, goo goo g'joob."

I have been confused by this song for nearly 40 years. I put it down to drugs. If I did them, I might understand it........

Yup, the ghost/toast rhyme has to be the worst ever - but at least she tried.

The one that gets my goat is the band (Kid Rock?);

'trying different things
smoking funny things'.

Rhyming doesn't count if it's the same bloody word!

I thought it was saying the 'city' can't hold us catgirl - not that that would make a great deal more sense!

Ditto Baroness. I think it's the most overrated song of all time. Mind you, there's stiff competition for that particular honour so I'll probably have changed my mind tomorrow Smile
