To be fair I haven't really noticed this til I became pregnant and started using mumsnet/fb/text message more but when did half of women completely lose the ability to spell words correctly. I mean sometimes I have no idea what the heck is going on. I mean is their keyboard broke or are they getting charged by the letter?

Example someone please translate this for me: "js rushed home to lie don its buggin me im not abin much luck in this pregnancy at all breezed throu my others reali it mst b age"

or this " i can hardly see at miih" what the heck is a miih?

I take it this is not a young lady thing because this woman is in her 40s. My own mother constantly struggles with threw/through or you're/your. Did I miss some sort of revolution in language some time ago?

This isn't just women and it isn't new. Far from being a "lost ability" I think it is an ability that many people never had in the first place. Add to that text messaging where shortening words had an advantage (not so much these days), combined with some people who are perhaps not so adept at using a keyboard, then I don't think there is much that is shocking about it.

Phone keypads and computers = stupid autocorrects and mis-typing due to letters being very closely-spaced on phones.

A whole generation use 'text-speak'. Whilst I dislike it, it is nonetheless an evolution of language.

I'm curious though...why do you equate this problem to just women? Do you converse with men through the medium of keyboards/smartphone keypads/tablets etc and find their spelling and grammar to be perfect?
