To ask you how many pairs of knickers you have?

Sounds kinky, but really isn't.

My DP says I have an obsession with knickers and I think he has too few pants because as far as I can see he always ends up having a pants crisis and he hurriedly has to put a wash on so that he an have a clean pair to wear. I have 35 pairs of pants. I only had 3 pairs at any one time as a kid and young teenager. One in the wash, one drying, one to wear. Ugh! I get stressed just thinking about it. When I left home, I bought knickers, clean white ones, lots of them so I would never run out of them.

I told my DP I would ask you lot to show that I don't have an obsession. That I have a normal amount. He has 6 pairs, btw.

10 pairs basic black with lace trim everyday knickers

6 matching sets- with 2x matching knickers

5 pairs of 'fancy' knickers (trim/satin/sexy)

3 pairs of BIG pants

3 pairs of 'period' pants


= 33 pairs

I have about 100 - I even counted them a few months back so I know. I am a magpie for them and can't resist a pretty new pair when I see them. 35 is very reasonable IMHO.

That fit in now I'm pregnant? About 7. In total - over 50. When I was at uni I had so many I could go for a whole term - 10 weeks - without needing to wash my knickers (although I did wash them I hasten to add) I made my DH buy more pairs for our 3 week holiday as he only had 14 pairs for 21 days . When I asked him what he thought he was going to do he didn't seem bothered about wearing the same pair twice... I took him shopping and we bought 6 new pairs (if you do the maths that still leaves 1 day...I never asked which day it was!).

I have four.

I love pretty underwear and will happily pay eighty pounds for bra and knicker set. So I buy one bra, two matching pants in one colour and another set in another colour. I wear a bra two days in a row (judge away) and obv clean pants daily.

I buy two new sets each year because I find bras don't really like washing machines and I really don't have the time to hand wash.

I also hate having more stuff than I need.

35 is a very sensible number. divisible by 7. and 5. You could have a bag permanently packed for a two week holiday or other unforseen emergency without any undue loss of service in the knicker department. If there was a world shortage of knickers you would be literally sitting pretty.

Nice knickers are lovely and good for self esteem and all that. Wish we could have a secretniceknickersanta I love the idea of (nice new) knickers winging their way from mumsnetter to mumsnetter around the country...

I misread what you put as 'I only have 3 pairs on at any one time.'

I have a drawer full (a small drawer in a medium sized chest of drawers). every now and then I throw some old ones out and buy enough to top up the drawer. No, I won't go and count them, some things just should not be counted!
