AIBU?

To want people to stop fucking staring at me in the gym?

It's hard enough to motivate myself to get off my lazy ass without feeling uncomfortable while I'm there, all sweaty and red faced.

Why do people have to stare anyway. I dint fucking stare at them while they're puffing and panting, it's just RUDE.

Can't I just sweat and MN in peace fgs!

It really puts me off. Sad

Are they actually staring?

Well done, you, for going.

I think the number one paranoia from people in the gym and swimming pool is that people are staring at them.

In reality, why would they?

They're probably miles away in their mind thinking about Christmas shopping.

Why are they staring at you?

I sweat alot, so much that my earphones fall out - attractive!

I ignore the stares & focus on my music/workout....

Yes, they really are. Doing it right now as they walk past. They only look away when I glare at them. Sad

I might be a little paranoid I guess, I just don't like people looking at me at the best of times.

I wish I was invisible sometimes.

They are trying not to die or wondering what to get their great aunt Nell for christmas
you are only starring in your own movie

Maybe they're wondering why you're in a gym and posting on MumsNet Grin

Haha! Maybe! I just get bored otherwise. MNing at the same time distracts me so I stay for longer. Xmas Grin

I wouldn't worry about it. I am fit but still go a lovely shade of tomato when I exercise. As for sweating, I don't feel I have worked out properly unless I sweat.

lovebunny, I used to go at 4am but it's just not feasible with my schedule atm.

Well, Harry Styles fits the ticket for three out of four of those characteristics and he seems to be proving MOST popular at the moment. Grin

Pretty sure they aren;t staring at you, just gazing vacantly in your general direction. Howevert, if you are able to MN, you are not exercising at a level which will have any effect, so it is irrelevant how long you stay. SOrry.

If she'd been able to mumsnet whilst shugging breast stroke up and down a 50 metre pool, I'd have been really impressed.

Are they thinking 'get off your phone and get on with your sets because I want the machine'?

People are generally more interested in themselves at the gym tbh.

If I do see someone really fat when I'm there the only thing I ever say to myself is 'at least they are trying to do something about it'

Interesting moment at Zumba this week:

One middle aged woman in front of me wearing black gym trousers, black fleece & full face of make up.

Row in front another woman similar age but wearing a vest top like the one I had on and lighter trousers.

Zumba makes you really hot!

Woman one kept fleece on til about half way through then took it off to reveal black long sleeves top.

Woman two sweating a lot & turning back in between tracks to talk to woman one & ask her how she stays so cool looking & do it all in heavy clothes.

Could see woman two starting to feel a bit useless about being so hot & sweaty (like I was btw)

As I was behind them both I could see that woman in fleece did absolutely nothing all class except maybe a brief shuffle of feet..

I would rather be the sweaty one doing something than the one looking perfect !

I'm with Saggar. Even between sets it seems a bit odd and would piss me off if I wanted to use the machine...
