So far we are 'never shopping again' at Asda (bad Christmas ad), Sainsbury's (bad toy sale email), Tesco (general evilness), The Cooperative (rip off dairy farmers), Iceland (too beige) or Morrisons (no idea on this one). That leaves Waitrose, who are apparently so terrified of getting it wrong that they have produced an advert saying that they aren't doing an advert this year Aldi, Farmfoods and Lidl. It's only a matter of time before they screw up too.

AIBU to think that everyone continues to shop wherever they would shop anyway, despite the huffings and puffings of outrage on here?

I shop at Aldi and that gets mixed reviews on here. It works for us so I'm not bothered about anyone else's choice of shop.

I really am not going to get worked up about advertising on the goggle box and im certainly not about to let an internet site influence how i shop. Oh and actually, lots of mnetters shop at ASDA. I shop there because its the cheapest and they sell exactly the same stuff as anyone else, it just is packaged differently for each shop.

My DP used to work in a sausage factory many years ago, he said the only difference between the different sausages for different shops - the packaging! Its all some sort of ridiculous snobbery - makes me laugh.

I shop at whichever shop my work takes me near, and I get the best bargains for that shop. The adverts are just a bit of fun, and wouldn't influence where I shop (even if I had seen them on TV).

I've never been in lidl or Aldi, for some reason im under the impression (and i dont know why i think this) that they have random stuff, so one week they will have ooh, i don't know, chick peas, the next week, baked beans? So maybe one week you might be able to go in and get everything you need or nothing and end up coming out chuffed to bits because you have a six pack of something you don't need, but at least it was cheap???

You're wrong about Aldi! I can't speak for lidl because I think it's shit.

In Aldi you get everything you need pretty much all stays the same. What changes is the weekly offers stuff in the middle. That could be camping gear, woks, spirit levels, motorbike helmets etc.

Only people who give a shite where anyone shops or what that says about them will post on a posh or not supermarket thread.

And if people think Waitrose is for wankers or asda is skanky they probably won't admit shopping there.

And there are plenty of people who could get their weekly shop delivered from Harrods and it still wouldn't tip them into financial difficulty.

So the entire premise is frankly ridiculous.

I'm always amazed how busy Tesco are when no-one admits to shopping there. I shop around depending on what I need. I used to shop in Sainsburys because it was small and quiet but now its a superstore its as much of a hassle as anywhere else so I don't see the point in spending more to shop there. I don't really like M&S because, apart from ready meals, they're no better than Asda and I don't buy ready meals.

I've never met anyone in Rl who knows or cares where other people shop, its a weird mn judgement thing.

Asda for me, far better quality of food than our local sainsburys although I do think supermarkets vary within their own, ie there is a super sainsburys a little further away.

Don't get the snob thing but then I don't care where anyone else shops and am amazed anyone else does.

Need more in their lives but love the post.

The solution to ASDA is to send your DH/DP to shop there instead of going yourself.

Or go to Booths. Can't think of any objection to them. Apart from that in some deprived areas they don't exist so you're stuck with waitrose.

I can easily get to every single supermarket mentioned on here with the exception of Harrods (I didn't even know it did food). Anyway I don't shop at waitrose, booths, sainsburys or Tesco as too expensive. I don't shop at Iceland or farm foods as I prefer fresh over frozen. I don't shop at lidl as the parking spaces on the car park are really tight and it drives me mad. So I do bulk of shopping at aldi with bits from morrisons or asda. It really doesn't matter where someone shops and I sometimes think people on here exaggerate their snobbery.

I solve this by not watching adverts. Easy!
Town is deliriously excited about new Waitrose opening up soon, I predict it will close within a year due to lack of business. Even Lidl struggles to thrive, here.

Lidl & Morrison's haven't subscribed to the fair pricing scheme for milk producers, if you're going to study ethical standards & all that. I still buy other stuff in Lidl, just try to get milk from Tesco or Sainsbury instead (see, Tesco's does do something good).

Nearest Tescos are zoos, though. I'd pay extra to avoid serious claustrophobia.
