AIBU?

to be annoyed that it's easier for people with wide feet than people with narrow feet to buy shoes? It pisses me off.

Honestly. It's true. I have two pairs of shoes and a pair of trainers as shoe shopping is such a 'mare.

Yanbu, I buy shoes 2 sizes too big and stuff the ends with tissue!

@raspberry yep Grin

It's true though. Women with big fat feet get all the good shoes. They don't have to wear silly straps over the top like little girls.

What about those of us with a high instep though?! I've resorted to converse and doc martens, which I love, but it would be nice to have some stirrup!

I have a very high arch as well. Honestly. It is a nightmare. I find finding trainers or walking boots that accomodate high arches nearly impossible.

So revise that to women with flat, fat feet being able to buy all the nice shoes.

Well I have very wide feet and find shoe shopping a nightmare but I have no idea if it's easier than shopping for narrow feet as I have never had to do it.

Go on and be annoyed then if it helps you sleep at night

This is silly IMO as you're implying that there's something wrong with people who have wide feet Hmm as if they chose to?

Be annoyed at not being able to find narrow feet shoes but no need to be arsy about others.

you wanna try having a stupidly high instep so nearly all styles of shoe get stepped out of - slingbacks? step out/courts? step out/ballet flats? step out

trainers/dolly shoes/biker boots is all I have to chose

I also have to accommodate orthotics with my wide feet and my calves are too sturdy for about 99% of boots so it's really hard

I have size 10, wide feet with high arches

I have 1 pair of boots which have been re heeled and re soled so many times I can't count, and my work saftey boots -and that's it

You need a nice, long soothing bath trip to Hong Kong shopping. Or Singapore. Or anywhere else in Asia where the average body frame is smaller than the average Caucasian one. Much wider choice, and a good holiday too.

YANBU. It is definitely easier to find shoes for wide feet than narrow feet. BUT no-one in the world finds it actually easy to get a nice pair of shoes to fit.

PS: I'm a podiatrist so this is one of the few times I know what I'm talking about!!

OP - YANBU! This is me too! I have very narrow feet and buying shoes is a nightmare. Like you, I have hardly any shoes for this reason. I always thought it was just me. Perhaps we should start a club. Or a website selling narrow shoes.

I will top trump you and say narrow size 9 feet are a nightmare to buy for.
There is smallfeetures....a lot of mumsy shoes- think Hotter but for AA fittings.
Or Crispins in London...beautiful shoes with Hefty pricetags.

@vegemite. Balls. A friend's DP got her a pair of Kurt Geiger shoes for her birthday. He ordered them off the internet. I asked her how he knew they were going to fit and she said "he knows my size".

For some people it really is that easy to find shoes.that.FIT.

I find it.impossible to but boots because of my calf muscles, I also have wide feet.and high arches and it's not easy to but shoes at all.

I have fat feet and unfortunately am developing bunions from rubbing against shoes. So count your blessings! Also why do so few places do half sizes? They're the only ones that fit!

peppersaunt · 02/11/2012 09:56

I find that expensive shoes are the best fit for my small narrow feet (much to my husband's disgust Grin)

Report
ethelb · 02/11/2012 09:56

Yep. I'm also a 4 1/2. They don't sell those either.

Try having feet that are wide at the top and narrow at the heel
