I do love her lots but I feel like I have no more energy left today.
EVERYTHING is a battle!

God yes, I'm with you. Mine is being perfect right now, but only due to being asleep!

Won't be a toddler for long so don't worry too much! I found the baby/toddler stuff much more difficult than when they are around 3-6 years.

we all had days like that lay low for today pick your battles with your toddler and it will pass ,

You are definitely not being unreasonable. I have a 2 year old. Love her dearly but today I could happily lock her in a cupboard .

YANBU.

I know that I have to go and do the weekly food shop when DS wakes up but am dreading it with a passion! Shopping was so easy and even quite good fun pre-DC!

I have a 1 year old and a 2 year old, I know exactly how you feel, its very hard work and it is exhausting.

I think they thing that gets me is the 24hr, never off-duty aspect of it, it is just never ending. That being said, I wouldn't swap it for anything inthe world, but I wouldn't mind a day off - you know, maybe one day a year?! Wink

You mean you don't enjoy the daily battles over food, what to wear, how much TV they can watch and the constant whining :o

I am a SAHM with two DCs, aged 4 and 3. I found my now 4 yo a fecking nightmare to look after until she was 3. I can't say it's a piece of cake now, but miles better than things were. So hang in there (like you've got a choice) and things will get easier.

YANBU. Toddlers are exhausting.

Today I am 8 weeks pregnant, and have pleurisy. DS (23 months) was up at 5:30.

BUT I was on the sofa fighting to keep my eyes open when I felt something lovely: DS was gently covering me up with his 'blankie', stroking my hair and saying "Shhh Mummy, sleep time, s'alwight."

(He then scribbled all over the wall in black biro) Grin

Give me a toddler over a newborn any day.

Do they get better at three then? I'm only asking as she has only just turned 3 and is still getting in a temper about everything:
Nappy changing, getting dressed, putting shoes on, whether she walks or goes in pram, what she will/ wont eat just to name a few!

YANBU.

We went to town this morning. 3yo DD was a huge PITA, in and out the buggy every 30 seconds, dropping to the floor, refusing to hold hands then refusing to wee on the potty when we got home. She's just been sent up for a nap as I need a break.

FWIW her 5yo brother is quite civilised. It gets better.

Is she at nursery yet OP? That helped things a lot with me when ds went off for a few mornings a week,

My three and a half year old is still terrible, nursery has engaged her, but she gets more tired in the evenings and she hates me at the weekend because I don't let her go to nursery.

I bet you anything things will start to get better OP. This bit before they go off is hard, I remember it being relentless. Nursery breaks the week up a bit iykwim?

I find the baby stuff and the 3+ stuff 'easy' (thus far). The toddler stuff, well I was relieved to work FT lets just say - I'm just not on that wavelength I guess. this soon shall pass! :)

Oh, I'm so with you OP. Some days I get through simply by the thought that today might be the day she has a nap

I still have hourly daily exhausting battles with my six year old. :(

you know when you see a thread title and think "ooh, did I post that??" Yes, love him and everything but would love it if just sometimes he would NOT get everything out the cupboard / drop his cereal on the floor etc. I must admit I do sometimes leave him with the CM on an occasional afternoon when I am off work just so I can crash out get things done Smile

I think this weather makes it worse as parks are too wet so its hard to let them run off some steam and make me feel less guilty about watching cbeebies all day

YANBU.

Toddlers are exhausting and random and infuriating and at their cutest when asleep!

YANB remotely U!

It is the complete irrationality that gets me at the moment.

DS: Want shreddies
Me: Here, have some shreddies
DS: Waaaaaah! Nooooooo! No want shreddies!
Me: Fine, don't have shreddies then.
DS: Waaaah! Want shreddies want shreddies want shreddies!
Me: Here! You have shreddies - look!
DS: Waaaah! Not shreddies. No mummy! Shreddies go 'way!
Me: [weeps quietly while rocking back and forth]
DS: Nom nom nom. More shreddies!
