win at the Devon County Show had to be a fix??

Come on, anyone who does any sort of craft or who watches Kirstie on a regular basis on her crafty/homemade shows knows she's absolutely rubbish at the things she trys!

Ok, so she came 2nd with her choux buns (not sure how she managed to beat ladies who'd been competing for years, but hey ho, she did something different), but to WIN with an iced fruit cake and a burnt one at that!!

Actually, I quite like Kirstie because she makes me look good at craft! Wink

Didn't watch the show, but the traffic management for the county show was awful so maybe all the decent entrants couldn't get there? Smile

The beetroot cake man was robbed, it looked alot nicer

She obviously froze the professional pastry chef's buns. That's exactly what I would do any way.

I have been thinking about this and although she's making the items, she's doing it at the same time as having a tutorial from a professional. I did wonder about the fairness of that...

Agree Knittynoodle and yes, Beetroom was definately robbed although cutting into his cake and seeing it violently pink was a bit of a shock

Well, I'm sure we'd all do a lot better at baking if we had a skilled baker stood next to us telling us how to bloody well do it. Her win was a cheat, IMO.

And I do like her. Just thought that it was unfair.

I was just thinking that if I'd just lost to a woman who I knew for a fact had been talked through step by step how to do something I had spent years mastering on my own, I might be inclined to drop her cake over her head (ensuring to mash some of that holey marzipan into her mouth and eyes) [hgrin]

I was also a bit dubious about the re-done marzipan. She went to bed leaving it with gaping holes, then the next morning it's sat on her work surface done to perfection. Hmm

The beetroot cake looked like meat with the pink middle and brown outer.

It probably was a fix. Is it true that she is Cath Kidston's cousin...?

It was the way in which she turned to give a speech to the remaining entrants after collecting her prize which made me splutter! Everyone else had simply collected and walked off. Kirstie obviously decided this was her Oscar moment :o

I can't believe the poor woman who'd spent an entire year on a sugarcraft course and was a professional baker came fourth!! She was obviously robbed to make it look better on telly. I'd much rather see Kirstie slumped in a corner, utterly despondent and swigging the cooking sherry after she's lost.

Her first batch of choux pastry was a disaster. Her second attempt was good enough to win 2nd place?! Hmm

It was so a fix. What did she think she was doing with the cling film on the marzipan?

'Its about taking part is what we tell our children'

Aren't her kids going to watch the show and see her clawing at that win by taking lessons in how to beat other people?

*I do really like her though. Her Christmas show was no1 catch up show for me through BFing.
