AIBU?

to not really understand the purpose of Playmobile?

I have 2 dc aged 6 and 3 and we have never gone down the whole Playmobile route. My dc both love lego and spend hours building and taking apart their creations only to rebulid something else. I have looked at the Playmobile boxes and they look really lovely though bloody expensive sometimes! I don't get it, is everything ready built in the box and therefore once you have opened the box it is up to dc to play with the items using their imagination (my dc would get fed up after couple weeks) or is it all in pieces and you have to build all the buildings and playmobile people before you can play (therefore am thinking would be really good value for money and could try some as Christmas gifts!). Would just love someone to tell me exactly what it is before I go out and waste money!

Its not ready built, you put it together, but unlike Lego you can actually play with it after you've built it.

I spend many many happy hours with my playmobile as a nipper, and I completely love watching my kids do the same... actually its me who does the building and them who do the imaginative play

Isn't it PlayMobil? No 'e'? Or has it changed? Or did I never actually have it right?

It is just a standard imaginative toy to play with. It is no different from dolls houses, sylvanian families, farmyard sets, noah's ark etc.

Playmobile ROCKS.

DS has the rubbish truck and farm/zoo animal set. He spends hours with the rubbish truck and the men driving it around etc. Same with the farm - animals feed, drink etc. Who knows what goes on his head. He loves the figures too and will play with them.

He's only 2. Lego is a bit meh for him.

Thanks, Shakey!

Ahhhhhh!!!!! That's better! Smile

Seriously though, we have loads of the stuff, and even at age 10, my owner plays with it every day. In fact, that's what he's doing right now! He makes up endless scenes with it, and sometimes rebuilds the buildings into different configurations.

NormanBatesTheForeman it wasn't a pedant criticism I promise! Just wasn't sure...I love it, whatever it is or how you spell it, so much I don't begrudge it an extra letter :)

But they're two different types of toy...

Lego is for building (then playing with), and Playmobil is bloody amazing stuff imaginative play.

I wasn't sure if dd would like playmo but now I she has loads.

HAHAHAHAHA @ your name change Norman. v good. and sinister.

omg am posting in aibu Shock

op playmo is wonderful stuff. dds (6 & 7) are playing with it RIGHT NOW. Those ponies are like 4 years old probably. Look like they just came out of the box. yy kids need a good imagination to use it properly though.

hey Norman, while in Holland I saw a Playmo St Nick with mitre in a Jamacan fishing boat. I boggled. was the Dutch Christmas special kit.

The Lego and Playmobil both get played with in our house but differently. The Lego more for building and the Playmobil for more imaginative play. The Playmobil gets used more though.......

Playmobil ROCKS.

Ds is sadly a total Lego fiend, so I am having to encourage DD instead.
