And is it acceptable to post "Get a Room you two" or "Barf" beneath it?

i dont know but i have a mate who's ''squidgy, my gorg fella'' posts got too much and u have had to block them ( not her!) as i was fed up of seeing entire conversations between them.

why can't they just text?!

because they like each other?

But why in public, Usual?

Brink of divorce, I tell ya.

Because it's the easiest way to correspond during the working day?

Because they're showing off to their friends?

Who knows. DH and I never do, but each to their own.

Yes, nasty. Shudder.

I quite like DH but I can tell him that in unnummerable ways, some of which even involve making eye-contact. And not showing off to all and sundry.

but i know a couple that do this, and they live together, but also spend all day together. So why or why can they not tell each other how they feel when they are in the same room, weird

Oh it's ghastly isn't it? I know a couple who do it all day long and they both work from home. The same home. Just shout down the stairs, you really don't have to tell us all about your husband doing the ironing with no clothes on, PLEASE.

Ha ha ha x-posts - I wonder if we all know the same people!

I have to say the friend I have who dies all the sloppy public Facebooking about her gorgeous husband is just that, on the brink of divorce. It's a way of saying to the world, in her case, 'look how happy we are,' so people won't suspect what's really going on and how unhappy she is.

That is just in her case, others may just be a bit sickly in love.

it's better than that shite about giving money to other countries when british ants have to share nests with moles due to lack of mushrooms

DP has a cousin who does this all the time, every update is about how great the other is, however this couple are not daft teens but in their lates 20's, engaged and have a baby so why they can't just say it in person is bizarre.
By the way I've nothing against telling your partner you love them but don't know why others feel they have to it so publically!

I had a friend who did this. Every day there were soppy messages back and forth between her and her DH about how much they were in luuuurve.... Anyway, I had a notification thingy that it was his birthday and so wished him a happy birthday on his wall. He didn't say thanks or anything, so the next time I saw him I teased him about it being polite to acknowledge your facebook friends when they write on your wall. He looked at me completely blankly and said "I'm not on facebook!" Turns out his wife had set up the account in his name and was sending the soppy messages back and forth to herself! Also turns out that she had had an affair and they were on the brink of divorce, it was all a facade to hide the awful state that their marriage was in.

Every time I see couples sending each other soppy meassages now I think of this and wonder...

YANBU. This is almost as annoying as people who post enigmatic status updates (no doubt in the transparent hope they'll get lots of sympathetic comments, thus elevating their 'popularity' in the eyes of their 'friends') Wendy wishes it wasn't all so difficult....Jenny wonders if....GRR!!! If you want to say something, say it, if you don't, don't!!!!

I find this really bizarre, same for all personal 1-1 conversations on Facebook 'walls'. Don't people know there's a private messaging function? Or do they actually want all their conversations to have an audience (like the people who talk to loudly about personal stuff on mobile phones in public?)

Shock Jemima!

It's all very vomit making.

I thought thats what fb was for ? if you don't like it don't use it

you can't dictate how other people use fb

Report
AuntieMonica · 03/08/2011 11:09

ffs, it's fb not the deBretts guide!

it's a social network....for you know, socialising?

Report
EllenJaneisnotmyname · 03/08/2011 11:11

Usual, we're not dictating, doesn't mean we have to like it.
