I really fancy a drink tonight but have no wine in the house apart from a bottle or moet given as a wedding present 2 years ago, do you think I should open it because I can't be bothered to go to the shop incase it goes off?

Absolutely, champagne is for drinking as often as possible. Unless you are in a grumpy mood, in which case don't waste it.

Seems the only sensible thing to do. Bit worried that you have to ask to be honest. Do you not know how dangerous out of date champagne can be????

Think of the kiddies and get drinking quick!

When I was orn my GPs bought a bottle of champagne to open on my 18th. The week before my 18th it exploded and blinded their sleeping king charles.
There's a moral in that.
Drink the champagne.
And let sleeping dogs lie.

ALWAYS have a bottle of champagne in the house.
You never know when you'll need to think up the reason to drink it.

Moet.
Pop it in the freezer for 10 minutes.
THen settle down with your favourite CD on Loud,
and enjoy
its the best because it tastes nice, not cos it looks pretty on the shelf

Absolutely seriously if it is a 'standard' off the shelf bottle then it is intended to have a relatively short half life - I think 2 years would be maximum so you actually need to drink it! Smile

It's in the freezer! Do you reckon half an hour should do it? Nothing worse than champagne when it's no quite cold enough!

Don't worry about not having an excuse/occasion to open it for. Popping a bottle of Champagne makes an occasion. And hey, it's friday. What more excuse do you need? Cheers.

There is something worse than champagne that's not cold enough. It's champagne icicles mixed with broken glass. Don't leave it in there too long.

I only drink champagne when I'm happy, and when I'm sad.
Sometimes I drink it when I'm alone.
When I have company, I consider it obligatory.
I trifle with it if I am not hungry and drink it when I am.
Otherwise I never touch it - unless I'm thirsty.

Pink and I will be round soon. I LOVE champagne. Love it love it love it. Even though I am not supposed to drink, because of being on Interferon.

Here's a nice thing: Get a big glass (not a typical champagne glass) and prick holes in a peach with a fork. Toss it (well not literally) in the glass of champagne. Watch it turn and bubbles come out of it.

THEN EAT IT!!!!

(That's it - I am going down to the cellar...it could be going off right now)
