What bin do you have in the kitchen, if you have a dog

There is no room in a cupboard due to shelves. We have the bin on the counter but I would like a bin on the floor.
someone suggested putting bricks in the bottom of the bin so the dog doesnt manage to knock bin over.

Ha in my experience unless you spend an extortionate amount of money there is no such thing as a dog proof bin. Our dog was kept out of the kitchen unless someone was in there...it was the only option otherwise the rubbish would end up everywhere

Our ddogs are the bin.
Recycling basket in reach they ignore as empty things hold no interest. Carrier bag hooked out of reach and out door binned when necessary. Saw a device that blows air if ddog gets too close on VS dog programme that attached to the bin. Was fab!!

We tried various bins/bricks/dogproof floor bins but nothing was safe so we have ours on the bench.

Have a slimline compost caddy like this that sits at the back of the bench nicely.

(Don't use the lid, just a plastic bag).
If somethings too large for that it goes straight out to the wheelie bin. Most days ok for space though as most packaging is recycled these days and we compost food waste.

Simpy Human slimline 40L one. It wanders round the room a bit but the lid lock has been fine.

Costs about £30 and the bin bags can be bought in large numbers cheaply enough!

We currently use a bag hanging from the top cupboard handle so he can't reach it after the big hungry fool worked out how to get into the lockable bin that had kept many a human out!

Pissedoffdotcom DH was very eye rolly over it, but even he concedes it's incredibly good. Everything has a place despite being small and it doesn't smell thanks to the carbon filter. I adore that bin bit strange

We have a Brabantia touch bin. For some reason it took our dog three years to work out that the bin was at chin-height and all she had to do was tap it with her chin and it would magically open so she could feast on the wonders within.

Our bin now lives in the cupboard under the stairs (still in the kitchen, but out of temptation's reach).

We changed the kitchen door handle to a knob. That works at keeping Houdini whippet out of the bin (where all bins failed before!).

Do not buy a flip/swing top bin. I once walked into the kitchen and found the back legs of my spaniel hanging out. I bought a Brabantia bin, which solved that problem.

We have this one,our dog is the biggest scavenger known to man. It's tall and heavy enough to even keep her out. We just have to deal with her getting onto the kitchen table to get food if someone has been stupid enough to leave something there.
