Was thinking maybe the ranch one for 5yr old dd

Ds had dragon's land with knights in it, or something very similar last year.

The alternative might be a Lego one, which he is into, but they seem to be a lot more money.

I am going to recycle last and the previous years one. It is the Woodland one with a few bits of the Central Park set.

I think I have seen a new one 9not researched it much) so may add a new one this year

I can't remember what mine ds' is. I think it's a foresty one. He had the town square last year and the year before so I decided to get a different one this year with the intention of ebaying the other one but I'm not sure I can let it go Blush.

I know he'd love the Lego star wars one but I don't think I can justify it when I've already got two the playmobil one s waiting. Unless I eBay both and get the Lego...

I knew I shouldn't have opened this thread!

How do you recycle last years?

Just put the bits back in the boxes as per the instructions. Ds kind of knew what was coming last year as he'd seen it the year before but as it's me with a major love of playmobil it didn't matter too much - he still gets his choc calendar!

Colonel - I know, that was my thought too!

We already use the bits from last year's in other scenes. We had the Christmas in the forest one last year, and the animals have been used in several scenarios, as have the vegetables, trees etc. And the Police advent calendar stuff from the year before is in constant use as "Bedham Police station".

My DD's Christmas post office has just arrived from amazon Grin

dd: pony ranch
ds1: knights (he has the castle so they'll fit right in!)
ds2: probably the dinosaur one, he's really into dinos atm.

It's getting bloody expensive though, I got away with not getting one for ds2 last year (actually, I temporarily forgot I had 3 children when ordering them so got him 2 chocolate ones to compensate Blush) but this year it's going to cost me the guts of 70 euros to buy 3 of them plus the ridiculous postage the toys sites charge.... nowhere here sells them, you can barely buy playmobil in the shops at all Sad

Colonel Do you have or have you seen a Playmobil Advent ? They usually come as two parts a large card that holds all the numbered boxes and then the 'scene'. Its fairly easy to fold and re-use and you usually get a few spare boxes that you can use if you have an over enthusiastic child who got to open the boxes before you did.

Our Forest one had the Central Park figures mixed in as well. I usually have it on a bookcase shelf DS lines with 'snow' then the scene.

Christmas in the Park was the original one we had, and Christmas Forest was the next one we have and have saved the scene.

I've just looked on Amazon and looks like the newer ones dont have the removable boxes but 'pull open' windows

I've just gone Shock at the price of this

Christmas Market was the one I was thinking of getting this year for myself. I've noticed Amazon have a few Christmassy figures as well

Ooh, I ds would like that!

Oldraver, dcs' from last year are the pull-open boxes (which I didn't save anyway) but no way can I retrieve all the bits to make a complete set again! Yours sound much better but maybe they realised people were sensibly re-using them year after year?

Yes I think your right. I havn't bought one for 2 years due to re-using so hadn't noticed the sneaky change of design Grin

I think I will let DS have a Lego one as he will be nearly 6 at Christmas and very into his Lego, and I think he is due a change

New design is much easier to use, as you don't have to assemble it all beforehand!

I bought 2 last yr and then decided DD was too young as she was not yet three then so her and DS (6) will get it this yr instead.

Have got the ranch one for DD

And one with dragons in for DS IIRC

First yr we have ever had them so the DC will be excited!!

Although spent 45mins today trying to put the bloody wheels together for the playmobil police car so play mobil is not my favourite thing atm Blush

DS has far too much playmobil but can't resist. Reckon the dinosaur one is the way to go..

simpson... I spent all night last Christmas eve building the circus and the dragon castle and then most of the next day dealing with the car + boat, the animal trainer set and the big black dragon. by the end of Christmas day i was composing hate mail to the playmobil corporation in my head Grin

Once I calmed down it was all worth it though, it gets played with so much by all three kids and all the sets get used together which I love.

I'm definitely never going to allow that much on one day again though.... at least not without far greater quantities of booze Wink

dd would love the lego ones but I just can't bring myself to pay that much for them Shock

Report
simpson · 12/09/2011 23:17

thank goodness DS is not really into lego

My front room was a fire station, police station and prison cell this eve, and we don't even have that much playmobil.

Got a bargain as my local ELC was closing down so got DS the police station for £9 Shock Gave it to him for his birthday last month.

He does want the helicopter though

Where do you all get yours? I used mailorderexpress.com the last two years but they don't seem to have them in yet and I want to get them early (I couldn't get the pony ranch for dd last year as it was sold out everywhere)

pixmania do all of them but charge the price of another one just for postage (as did mailorderexpress tbh)

Report
NormanTheForeman · 12/09/2011 23:17

SummerRain, it gets easier when the child gets older and can build most of it themselves! Also experience helps. We can now knock up a complicated Playmobil building in a fairly short space of time! Grin But we do have ridiculous amounts of it......... Blush

Christmas post office looks tempting for DS, and maybe Christmas market for DD. Has anyone seen any good prices on them anywhere? They had dragons and pony ranch respectively last year.

[contented sigh] at the end of a crap day, a nice playmobil thread is just what I needed Grin

buyforlessonline is good (and not expensive) for Playmobil. Or Playmobil own website - if you order over £50 worth of stuff (easily done at Christmas especially if you buy any as gifts for other people as well as your dcs) then delivery is free.
