What does anybody know about the new mat rights?

Heard something on the radio about maternint pay changing to 20wks full pay, does anybody know anythin about this?

Or is it even right, just curious for number 2

As minipie said it's an EU proposal so nothing changing yet.

Many EU countries have much better maternity/paternity pay than us and manage just fine. Although the cost is paid by the tax payer or shared by employer and tax payer.

Under the current proposals IIRC the cost would be shouldered by the tax payer the same as the current system.

Although maternity pay is going up slightly... by about a pound a week. Don't spend it all at once

At the moment it's just an idea that the EU have put forward. Suspect it will never make it into law since it would cost businesses so much (esp with current economic climate).
