Asking for payrise at probation meeting

Accepted a great role and am happy BUT I feel that the business massively misrepresented the role and level of responsibility. I was told that I would have a team of 2 supporting me on a daily basis. This is not the case. Not long after I started, they transferred them to a different team. I have to pick up their work and my own!

My issue isn’t the scope of the role as I can get by and do it (just about) it’s that the salary doesn’t represent the role in the slightest. I know money isn’t everything but this role comes with so much more responsibility that it really should be paying around more.

Also they are now interviewing for another role. I’ve seen the JD and it is similar to mine, if anything, with a lot less responsibility than mine.

My probation is on Monday and I’d like to discuss the whole thing surrounding salary. But I don’t know how to put my case to them? I feel that I can be quite open and honest, but I don’t want to come across unprofessional.

How can you be sure your role should be paying £3k more? That seems such an odd thing to be able to pin point unless you work somewhere with a highly structured pay scale.

I think I would be inclined to maybe talk about the job being different to expectations rather than going straight for the pay increase talk, unless as I say, you have some concrete evidence that it is being paid incorrectly.

Sorry I missed out some words! Role should be around 3k more. And salary of the other role is 5k more than mine.
